help from levi please or an X4 expert..
Hi Guys has anyone worked out how to mirror a duplicated image.
the function flip horizontal does it but not like we had before..
is it hidden somewhere and how can one change from edit
to manage and keep the work in the workspace..
when you change it disappears..
finally is the effects seamless tiling function working properly??
I am sure mine isn't.. and the stupid opacity in layers can't be seen past 80%..
I would like to know who tests these versions before released..
they don't do a very good job..
Goodnight from me will tune in tomorrow..
am supposed to be watching the rugby..Cheers

Re: help from levi please or an X4 expert..
Well I'm no expert but I am a "Levi." XD
First off. Don't blame the people testing the product if something doesn't go right when the product is released. Corel forced the product to be released before it was ready, there were many bugs we caught in beta-testing that never found a fix before the scheduled release date forced them to release it early. That's one reason we all look forward to service pack 1. Also new problems were introduced in the release version that weren't in the betas before it so those could only get reported after the release of the product. So please don't insult those who tested it, their powers were limited when it came to actually getting bugs fixed.
Now, Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical were complained about from the beginning we wanted to keep them and get the old functionality back. Instead they gave us the ability to get the old functionality back in scripting form only. To get the old mirror and flip functions back you can create scripts and bind them to the menu. There are two very easy ways.
1) Record a script from an older version that only does Mirror. And one that only does Flip.
Or
2) Record a script in X4 that only does Mirror. And one that only does Flip. Then open them up in a Text Editor and change the parameter "TransformLocally" to 'False".
By default this value is set to False that's why other scripts behave normally even though they don't have this parameter.
Also, since the organizer is now available in all modes there is no need to go back and forth between it and Manage Mode. If you're going back and forth it's probably because you're used to doing so from X3 or you like the UI of mange mode. The UI designers seem to have thought, and this is just a guess, that since we don't need to go back to the Mange Mode to get more photos it should be a separate mode altogether. The new workflow is strictly left to right.
Opacity works just fine for me so it doesn't seem to be a consistent problem.
And in all of my tests the seamless tiling works exactly as it did in X3.
Care to share what this problem with seamless tiling is?

Re: help from levi please or an X4 expert..
Thanks for you reply Levi..how many tested X4????
why do they bother with testers if they don't take any notice..
Seamless tiling is fine it was me..
The opacity in the layers palette is very narrow..why did they do that..
once you get to 50% you can only see the 5..
The reason I like the manage mode for looking for images..
it has the thumbnail mode not like the edit mode
the images are all along the bottom..
In all I am quite impressed with it but can't convince fellow psp'ers
whom have beeen burnt with X3..
Cheers

Re: help from levi please or an X4 expert..
Quite a few people beta tested the product. And from what I've seen only a handful of those participated in discussions here on the forums. And to be fair the developers and project manager did listen to us where they could.
A few changes were made to accommodate us in our wants. Though most of it was damage control. They already had a product our job was to test for bugs. The UI was one of the biggest complaints and now we have promises that they took the time to re-write a good portion of the UI code to bring us more options (and colored icons).
I just hope the first patch is all it's cracked up to be.

Do you think they will ever fix the Filters Unlimited problem
where it won't work on a raster layer in either 3 or 4
will work on a merged layer
but works perfectly in 2..
they know of the problem it went pearshape after patch2 is X3..
I know of users that were advised to go back to that patch..
Cheers

Filly, I'm not seeing the single digit in the opacity section that you are experiencing. In the screen shot, the opacity is set at 26 and you can see both digits.

I hate to say this but your layers palette might be too narrow. Which, if that's the case, they used a horrible method of defining the location for the text inside the control.

Re: help from levi please or an X4 expert..
I'm not sure that's the issue Levi. I checked and mine is as narrow as I can get (I can't slide it any further to the right) and I don't have the issue Filly is seeing. I also tried unpinning my materials palette to duplicate her setup and I still can't get it any narrower. I am viewing on a wide screen monitor but I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

And it could still be a possibility if monitor size enters into the equation.LeviFiction wrote:I said "if" XD
Filly - try making your layers palette wider and see if the problem persists. It might boil down to how the program interface displays on your system.
