Sudden odd behavior for PSP8

Post by Cassel »

OK, i know PSP8 is a bit of a dinosaure, but in my scripting and testing, i use it every week. Last week, it just started acting odd. I have 8.10 installed. I am testing script ABC but it runs script X instead. Here are the steps i took:

- in the Script toolbar, i select the script i wanted to test (last week, it was Torn Apart script)
- i hit the "run" button
- the first message window that comes up is the one for the "Template user tool" script
HUH????
I try another way:
- File > Script > Run
- select the "Torn apart" script in the browser
- click ok
- again, the first messsage window that comes up is the one for the "Template user tool" script.

After that sequence failed, i decided to move the "template user tool" to another folder where the PSP8.10 file preference was NOT pointing to and tried to run the Torn Apart script. Again, i get the "Template user tool" script to run, EVEN if it is not even "accessible".

I decided to uninstall and reinstall PSP8.10. By then, i had tested my script on another PSP8.10 installation i had at the office. Tonight, i want to use another script (Directional tuber) to create some... directional tubes. I need to create those tubes in PSP8 so i start and i select that script to run. Well, the first messsage window was... Torn Apart script. The one i tested last after i had reinstalled it. Now, no matter what script i try to run, it always runs the Torn Apart script.

I am a bit at loss to figure out why it behaves like that, especially since it worked fine for years now!

Any suggestion?

Sudden odd behavior? I suspect it's a Microsoft Update doing something unintended. I'd try to use System Restore from the Start button and see if you can go back a few days or to a day when you can remember using a script without issue.

Hum... never thought of that. I'll see what i can do. I also noticed one other problem totally unrelated to PSP, and it matches in time frame. That might be the solution! Thanks. I'll do that tonight.
