Has anyone had this before?
Failed to read DVD information.
Report ID: 0x80040901 (2305)
It's the response to Create DVD - Import video file from hard disk,
and appears for about 1 in every 5 video files, though there is never anything different or unusual about the 1 that produces it.
Another meaningless message

I have the same thing. I record from to my tv dvd recorder, bring it to my computer, spiff it up really nice and neat.
It only happens about every 4 or 5 times but it's enough to tick me off. I've tried downloading it to hard drive. I'm still playing around with it and will let you know if I come up with a solution.
The big thing is is that I have to save my work alot in MF 4.0 because I don't know when it's going to shut down on me. I'm going to look around to find a solution for this but it would seem like their tech support should be all over it!

i get a similar error:
"failed to begin VIO playback instance in the import dvd preview module. report ID: 0x8004095a(2394)"
when trying to import a dvd-vr recorded in a panasonic dvd recorder. my computer dvd-reader-writer is NEC ND-2510A.

Is that a dvd-rw or dvd-ram disk. Didn't think the NEC could read dvd-ram disks.
Recording onto dvd-ram from a panasonic unit gave same error.
After installing the latest update 4.03 from the ulead website I import from the dvd-ram disks no problem.
Have you downloaded and installed the 4.03 patch? Then rebooted?

hi maddrummer3301,
thanks for your reply. it's a dvd-rw disk (not a dvd-ram). so seemingly NEC can't read dvd-rw disks written in dvd-vr format. at least, directly. if i use isobuster i can open it and save the contents to the HD. i've already installed the 4.03 patch and it didn't work. but i have not rebooted the system so far (it's processing). as soon as i do it, i'll try it again and report here.

I'm assuming you know to finalize the dvd before trying to use it in other machines.
The NEC should read the dvd unless it's a +drive only but even then I believe it should still read the dvd as read-only because it's closed and finalized.
If using win2000 you maynot be able to view the contents.
XP should be no problem.
