Screen Capture doesnt work?

Not much to say other than whats in the subject. Screen capture doesnt work in psp x4. I tried searching for this but no info at all on it. I have to resort to using the print screen option in windows and then paste as new image. I shouldnt have to do that. Is this a known bug maybe? Any infor would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Works just fine for me... either as capture full screen or a designated area. I haven't yet tried the other options.

For Full Screen, I choose File > Import > Screen Capture > Start. X4 minimises itself and I simply right click on the screen. X4 opens up again with the full screen capture showing.

For partial screen capture, I start Screen Capture again after changing the Set-up. Then when X4 has minimised itself, I right click to get the cross hairs cursor. Then I left click to start designating the area I want to capture. Then I left click again to effect the capture, and again X4 reopens with that captured part showing as a new image for saving.

This is all, of course, in the Edit screen.

I also choose File > Import > Screen Capture > Start. X4 then, does NOT minimise itself. I'm going to try and re-install and see if that works.

Heres what I found out. Screen Capture doesn't always work on Vista/7. It is caused by the Internet Explorer/OS. High security settings hinder PSP to take a screenshot. So I downloaded Google Chrome and the Screen Capture works just fine now. I tried lowering all the security settings in IE, but it didn't help. Plus I wouldn't want to leave it like that just to have Screen Capture anyway.
I hope this helps someone else having the same problem.

Works ok on my end. You may want to try and reset your workspace. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

Seems to be working here as well. You may want to try right clicking the PSP icon and select "Run as administrator" from the drop down menu to see if it is a permissions issue. Windows 7 is a little picky about programs sometimes.

one of the better FF addons that I use is Awesome Screenshot..it'll sit as a 'button-link' in FF... very e-z to use.. all or part of a page.. crop it. or whatever then save it... and not as quirky as the one in X4.. I just tried X4's...don't like it... not worth the aggravation

Thanks. I'll check it out. In reality, I use another general screen capture program which suits my needs just fine. I would also agree with you that X4's method is quirky as I find it difficult for now to control the exact area I want to capture. But in my case, at least it works...

Hey thank you for the ideas on this. I reset my workspace and ran as admin as well, but still not working. Pretty confusing thats for sure. I will continue to use google chrome or the print screen option, but now its just a matter of wanting to find out why it doesnt work and finally put a solution to it. I will continue to research and post what i find on here.

I had a similar problem last night and that's what led me here. This may not be the answer to your problem but here is what I found. Pl;ease bare with me as I explain.

1. I'm using Firefox 38.01 as my browser and using two screens.

2. I have PSP X5 open on my main monitor and Firefox open on my second screen.

3. On PSP I select FILE> NEW to create a new Raster image.
This opens the 'New Image' dialogue box on the screen. While this dialogue box is on the screen, none of the Tools, menus or
anything else in PSP is selectable. The only thing selectable is the dialogue box itself.

4. To capture this either press screen print on the keyboard to capture the whole screen or press Alt screen print on the keyboard
for selective capture. BOTH WORK
For me at least it's not the capture not working it's the 'Paste As New Image' Edit > Paste as new image which is not accessible due to the dialogue box still open on the screen. (i'm trying to capture the dialogue box and paste it as a new image).

5. Delete the dialogue box.
When you delete the dialogue box all the tools and menus come back to life and selectable.

6. Go to Edit > Paste As New Image.... And it does! I now have a screen prt of the dialogue box.

In short, while a dialogue box is on the screen you do not have access to anything else and that means tools, menu etc..
