Yes we have digressed from the original subject (Cannot start the capture graph) and I should have started a new thread although it (overexposure) was not a problem I needed resolved rather a suggestion.
FYI
My Vidcam does not have an inbuilt ND filter (I screw one onto the front of the lense)
The aperture/iris is manually adjustable in full f stops eg f1.6, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16 <- the highest)
