I've been having trouble with layers and frames with x4. See my other post under x4 frustrations. Every time I include a frame layer x4 refuses to re load the file. I've worked around that issue by creating my own frames. Hopefully some one at Corel finds a fix for that issue as I can't recreae all frames!!!!
Now for my new problem.
Layers again!
I load a tiff file.
Save it as a PSPImage file.
Then add some layers. (Duplicate and a Raster layer).
If I try to work on one layer with the Smudge Brush I get 'strange' results. Smudge doesn't work and the colors of the layer underneath show through. If I check the 'Use All Layers' box x4 simply locks up. Again.
If I flattern the layers the smudge tool works just fine. But that's no good to me as I need to work on just one layer first.
(I only want the Smudge Brush at the moment but I see the other tools also act 'strange' as well).
This, again, is a work flow that worked just dandy with x3. Now it wont work with x4.
Me thinks Corel have an issue with x4 when it comes to layers.
Any suggestions on what may be wrong?
I'm realy trying hard to like x4 but CS5 is starting to raise it's head once more.
Thanks

Re: More x4 frustrations
Regarding the Smudge tool, I can't see a difference in working between PS CS5 and PSPX4. I personally thing that X4 offers even more possibilities than CS5. I also can't reproduce "the colors of the layer underneath show through" as you wrote.
What do you mean with "frame layer". I can't find this term in PSP. Could you please describe your steps that I can reproduce "Every time I include a frame layer x4 refuses to re load the file."
Thanks.

Re: More x4 frustrations
If I open a file then duplicate that file. I have 2 layers.
Then I may add another layer. A raster layer.
When done I like to add a Frame around the image.
So I go to 'Image/Picture Frame'.
Add a picture frame which becomes a new layer.
In affect I then have 4 layers.
If I save that file, close it and then try to repoen the file x4 simply refuses to open the file.
If I 'mege/flatten' the layers and then do a save then x4 will load the file ok. But then I can nolonger work on the layers.
All is well until I add a frame and save and close and then try to reload.
The issue with the Smudge Brush is in x4 noy CS5.
Thanks.

Re: More x4 frustrations
I have done as you said but I have no problem to re-open my pspimage file. But I have no real tiff file for testing, I only created an artificial one with 3 MB in size. It might be that you have one of these 100MB files, coming from a scanner or camera. If I open a file then duplicate that file. I have 2 layers.
Then I may add another layer. A raster layer.

Could you please contact our support in your country and tell them that Simone from Maidenhead office asked to test this problem. You would need to upload your tiff file for testing.
Thanks!
