Bought PSP X3 end of august. Should X4 be free??

Post by aidanodr »

Hi Guys,

On Aug 21, 2011 3:57:32 PM I bought Corel® Photo & Video Pro Bundle which includes:

- Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3
- Corel® VideoStudio® Pro X3
- Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4

I had not ( NOR have not ) recieved any emails stating an iminent upgrade called X4 was due. ( I am on the mail list as I have previous versions AND also have Corel Draw ).

If I knew X4 was on the way out within a few days I would have held off. There is no policy stating that new buyers of x3 are entitled to x4? How does Corel usually work with this? ANYONE ELSE in the same boat?

I am sure there were others who were similarly caught. In fact when X4 was released, we advised people in your situation to contact Corel Sales in your country to discuss the matter. However, this is a user to user board, so we have no direct say in what Corel might decide in specific cases.

I was cuaght by a few weeks but hey that's life.
Same as fuel prices going down just after you filled the tank.

I'm not happy about it but I don't expect Corel to do much about it. Maybe a better discount for an upgrade??

it's pretty standard across the software industry to offer free upgrades in this situation. And with respect, it is not a great deal like petrol prices going down.

Hi Guys,

Just to report back. As previously I said:

On Aug 21, 2011 3:57:32 PM I bought Corel® Photo & Video Pro Bundle which includes:
- Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3
- Corel® VideoStudio® Pro X3
- Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4
No mention at the time of the X4 upgrades anywhere. If I had known I would have waited for same. I purchased on that date and a day or two later X4 was released.

I went in search via support email since to see if fairness prevails in Corel and that they would give me the X4 upgrade to the Pro Bundle apps.

I am afraid to report that I have had no success what so ever. I have opened the case at least twice if not three times, I keep getting emails back saying:
Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support.

I apologize for the delays. There is no problem with the phone number. I have already contacted the Manager in your region to provide callback to you. Please wait for the call.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Guess what - NO CALLS and the case keeps being closed automatically with:
I am writing to let you know that your incident is being automatically closed by the system because it has been inactive for ten days. We hope your question has been resolved, but if you still need assistance please log in to our online case management tool to submit a question and we will be happy to help you.

Thank you for choosing Corel,
To date I have to say this is the worst form of support I have had with any software. It particularly annoys me because I have been buying/upgrading Corel software since the early 2000's if not the 90's inc CorelDraw/Photopaint, Video Studio, Paintshop and the like.

To be honest even if they came back and said Sorry no, you are not entitled to the update, its just tough luck - even that I would take because it is at least an answer.
