It seems that there is some issue between the Corel installer and my computer. Last time this happened it was with PSP X3. At that time, the tech from Corel got into my computer using "
GotoAssist" but could not find out what the problem was. This was well over a year ago and the tech stated that it would be sent to the program engineers. Nothing has been heard since. Recently I purchased from Corel a program package which included PSP X4 and VideoStudio X4. The same issues are still at work. If anyone can identify the following error code(s) and possible remedy, I would certainly appreciate it. It is unknown where or why the "Internet Explorer" error comes up. I do not use IE at all instead, my browser is Firefox.
Language is set as "English" United States. The odd thing about this is that the installer is looking to communicate with the Corel office, I suspect to get more add-ons or what ever. Not sure what or why this issue only affects any "Corel" based program. I download and install many photo related programs and Corel is the only problematic code.
The package was downloaded this time as well as last year when I purchased PSP X3 from the Corel site. At "that time", the download was verified correct from the tech who came onto my computer from Ottawa via GoToAssist. To this very day, PSP X3, will not install on my computer however, it installed flawlessly on my wife's laptop. I copied the download from my computer to hers and there were no issues at all. It was then removed from her computer as she does not use any photographic programs at all. I took a chance last week in getting this package from Corel, having remembered what the last episode was like. Again this time, same issues, same problem. One difference however was that with the Paint Shop Pro X4 code, most of the program files were opened up within the "programs" directory and I was able at least to get PSP running "on the fly" after hitting the program icon within the folder. With VS Pro however, none of the program files were unpacked and placed in any directory. To get out of the "error messages" that you see, I had to X out of the installation and be left with nothing. My biggest question in all of this is what on earth or why on earth is an "Internet Explorer" error coming up all the time with Corel installations ??? It's got me and it apparently puzzled the engineers at Corel because I've never heard from them since. On two separate days, the tech came aboard my system and spent about 45 minutes each time but to no avail. It's a head scratcher for sure.
I run FireFox with latest updates and not IE. My system is an XP SP3 with nothing special about the unit.
I am sure you can see the frustration in spending some heavy $$ for Corel programs and not getting past the start line.

Tks...

I just installed the newly delivered VS X4 boxed version last night with no particular installation problems of which I am aware. My computer Regional settings are US English and the location is set to US as well. As am I.
Perhaps since Corel is in Canada, and you are in Canada, the app may take a more restrictive view of your options and is trying to get you to change your Control panel settings. However, this could mess up some of your other legacy software that may require US English language and location settings for currency and the like. Good luck.
Hi Steve,
Even though you use Firefox as your default browser, Internet Explorer is still on your PC. I have seen similar error messages in my work as a support person for a company that supplies computer systems to automotive dealerships. One of our main products runs with Internet Explorer as it's foundation program and we often see similar error messages with that program. The most common source of these errors is issues with the .NET Framework from Microsoft. I would suggest the first thing to try is making sure you have at least .NET 3.5, Service Pack 1. If you already have that, and I think you said you are running Windows XP, I would suggest uninstalling .NET, then reinstalling it. There is a utility on Microsoft's web site that will do a complete uninstall of .NET. The Add/Remove Programs utility in Windows XP does not clean everything out. I know this seems like a lot of work, but it might just cure your problem.
I hope this helps.
A recommendation to create a “new user account”, then install Video Studio has been successful for some users.
As far as I know you can then remove the new account
