30 day trial lasted 3 days

Installed the trial version of Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 a few days ago, so I was somewhat surprised when I tried to open it this morning and got a message telling me the 30-day trial period had ended.

This is very frustrating because I was just getting over the initial frustration of: "This is not what I'm used to."

There were several things I could do with the old Corel video editing that I could not do - or could not figure out how to do - with Pro X4.

For instance: why only three transitional effects instead of dozens? Are more included with the paid version, or am I supposed to download them with the "Get More Content Button"? (I tried the later, but found only special effects and templates, not transitions.)

Anyway, I was expecting that after the 30-day learning curve I would probably purchase Pro X4, but right now I feel as if I was cut off before I could figure out whether any problems I had were due to the product or simply to my ignorance of how to use it.

Hi Steve

Generally trial versions although fully functioning are limited in the amount of samples provided.
There are only a few Transition effects, the disc menu templates are also reduced.

Once you purchase you will get an additional file, either by download or on disc, depending how you purchased.

The Contents file I have is called VSX4_Content.exe and is 472 Mb, its this size that has been reduced to allow you to download a smaller trial file, VSX4_Pro_TBYB at 780Mb

So yes you will get more content after purchase.

In addition to this as you mention is the Do More options.

Unfortunately I have no idea why your trial only lasted 3 days.????????

Thanks for the reply - especially clarifying the distinction between the trial version and the purchase version. Unfortunately, Corel confuses this issue by posting this on their website:

Full versions: All trials come with the same features and power you'll find in a purchased version.

Which really does make it sound as if what you see in the trial version is what you get in the purchased version. Glad to know there's more.

I may go ahead and make the purchase later, but right now I'm ticked off. I wanted to buy the box version and have it mailed to me while I continued to use the trial version.

If you really going to buy the product, then you can call the Corel Sales Team and see if they can give you the trial extension, since you will still need to wait for the box to be delivered to you.

Strangely, the trial version is working again - now says I have 23 days to go.

That’s good---------strange these computers.

Below is a link to Photo Video Life, its run by Corel and allows users to share their instant project creations.
There are also other links and info regarding Corel. Maybe worth a visit.

The instant projects within Video Studio create a short introduction or ending to your project.
They use Placeholders, so you have to manually replace with your own images.
(Drag from library, hold CTRL and drop)

The downloaded templates via Do-More are associated with Instant Projects.
After download, import to the template to the Instant Project gallery.
