Last crop settings not saved in X4

Post by Pixel_Pusher »

PSP X4 does not save the last crop settings which I used. In older versions the program saved the last used settings (dimension of the crop frame in pixel) and this was a good thing. Now in version X4 this does not work anymore.
Is there a setting to switch that on or is it a bug?

As far as I know there is no direct setting for the crop tool remembering the exact location of its last crop. There is, in the general preferences, an option for whether or not the crop rectangle appears at all when the tool is first activated but that's not quite the same thing.

However, mine always remembers the last crop. Whether between images or between instances of the program it always remembers the crop. So if it is a bug it's a bug that not everyone gets.

I thought that feature went away with PSP8. Prior to PSP8 there was that "secret" way of making the custom crop dialog box open when you double-clicked on the Crop Tool icon. I recall that it was a big complaint with the beta testers for PSP8 when we saw that it was missing but that's also when they added the option of saving presets. If there's a way to get PSP to remember the last crop dimensions without saving them as a preset, I haven't seen it. Please tell us how to make it do that, Levi, or is this a feature that has been added back since X2? The only time I've seen PSP remember the crop dimensions was if I hit Undo on the current image to undo the crop. If I open another image, the number settings are all zeroed out again. In X2, it does sort of remember the last crop size if you have "Automatically display crop rectangle" enabled but when I turned that option on just now I was getting a very strange glitch that I'd never noticed before. If I have two images open and perform a crop on one of them. When I switch to the second image, two crop rectangles appear on the previous image. When I switch back and forth between the two images, the double crop outlines move to whichever image isn't the active one. It's very strange. This only seems to happen if I've made more than one crop at different sizes on one of the images.
