Hi to all

Recently, I noticed an increase in using the PSPX4 removing tool and that only, because users can't imagine that using the Control Panel simple works.
The result is like in this entry, after using several tools, now, nothing works:
qsabe wrote:
After X4 was installed I found clicking the paintbrush tool caused it to crash. I uninstalled the program, used the Corel cleanup tool to make sure it was completely removed. Ran the CCleaner to remove left in registry entries. Rebooted and now it won't install saying another program is already installed. Any ideas.
Let me make it clear:

If you have to remove PSPX4, you use the Control Panel. PSPX4 is completely removed and ready for re-installation.

The tool is only for people who can't remove PSPX4 through the Control Panel and they receive an error message while trying to remove it.

Please don't use any other tools like Revo, CCleaner and all these things.

If you notice immediately after the installation that something crashes again and again etc., then contact Corel support.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Small question, if I may, Simone - and I apologize if I've missed it elsewhere in these threads: - does the uninstall function also remove the Protexis files?

Hi Paul J

No, it doesn't remove the Protexis files, but don't touch them. When you remove them manually, you can't launch the program at all. They have changed a while ago and you can't delete them.

"Go to Start - Control Panel - Software (XP)"

I don't have a "Software" in my XP service pack 3 control panel. Possibly you mean "Add or Remove Programs"?

Couple criticisms, as a former Corel Draw and photopaint 4 customer and current Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 owner.

I thought I would try PSPX4 to see if there was anything worth upgrading for. First problem, adding fluffware like google toolbars by default, designed so the user has to watch the install process carefully and UNcheck the option, is something often done with amateur freeware creators - not professional when you're trying to sell a real product. The install also doesn't have the OPTION to change file extension associations, it does it automatically without asking - especially uncool for a demo. Last but not least is Protexis, yet another DRM TSR added to services for automatic startup which needs special procedures to remove it.

I won't be buying PSPX4, in fact I'm not going to even try it for the whole 30 days since the install for the demo has left an extremely bad taste in my mouth.

@sniper297

Thanks for pointing to my mistake (Software = German system) and I changed it to the English Add and Remove.

Secondly, this Google toolbar, no idea why it is in there, but that File association has got a story. When testing X4 Beta I noticed this missing possibility on XP as kind of bug. Because the program has got a different workflow on XP (obviously), the DevTeam added an additional tab when installing it.
1. Agree EULA
2. Enter serial number (trial has no one)
3. Install location is asked
NOTE: Here are 2 tabs and second one is called Options. Click on it and un-tick that you want to associate the files with PSP.

I currently have PSP X4 Ultimate installed and have just bought PSP X5 Ultimate.
Is removing the previous version recommended to ensure no issues occur with the newer version or can they both be installed on the PC at the same time without issues?

There's no need to remove X4. You can have as many versions of PSP installed at the same time as you like.

I have already uninstalled PSP X4 Ultimate after buying and before installing PSP X5 Ultimate.

As a relative new comer, is there any advantages to having PSP X4 Ultimate installed as well as PSP X4 Ultimate?
I can easily re-install PSP X4 Ultimate.
