I can install X3 on Windows Server 2008R2, but cannot install X4. It said 'cannot install on this OS', does X4 not support 2008R2?
For the X4 is just a picture procesing application, why do not allow to install it on a server OS.
Are there ways ? Thanks.

Re: PSP X4 cannot install on 2008R2
According to the System requirements of PSP X4 you can only install the program on computers running Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions).
You may want to consult with your IT Department or Microsoft on how you can install PSP X4 or a 32-bit application on Windows 2008 Server

Good answer, good service.Abiel Corel NA wrote:According to the System requirements of PSP X4 you can only install the program on computers running Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions).

But it's that the installer of X4 terminates the installing process, not OS.

Re: PSP X4 cannot install on 2008R2
Have you tried running the installer itself in compatibility mode, maybe for XP? Just an idea.

My suggestion....don't install graphics/paint program on what was never meant to be anything other than server os.
2008R2 is no different from windows 7.

that's a bit harsh don't you think. i can think of many reasons to install user apps on 2008R2musicman53 wrote:My suggestion....don't install graphics/paint program on what was never meant to be anything other than server os.

i think the frustration is that its the installer failing and not the app.

Re: PSP X4 cannot install on 2008R2
Can you run a virual machine as Windows XP and install it there? It's my understanding that the architecture of the Server platform is to place priorities different than say a media based PC. There may be components that the installer relies on to install that just aren't there or are named or located differently. Even some of Microsoft's Server software apps from 2003 weren't supported. I don't have any experience with Server but you may take a look at the Microsoft layout of it http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 10%29.aspx

You can run the installer, wait for the error message box, then go to "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\1\", copy the "Corel ..." folder (that contains installer). Close malfunctioning installer, then set "Windows XP SP3" compatibility mode in properties for copied "Setup.exe" and run it
