I mean because i have the hour and abit long clip in my timeline as one big clip...

How can i selectively crop and save one part without: snipping the clip i want.. then highlighting and deleting the before and after clips...

Because otherwise even if i set the in and out points its saving the whole timeline and its becoming time consuming snipping my clip i want and having to delete the rest...

Saving my cropped clip, then after having to open the project file again so my time line becomes what it was when first imported...

In a nut shell... can i selectively save from my time line without deleting parts and having to re open the project after ive modified it.

Thanks very much.

Yeah sorry, no i do mean saving as a video file

What i was doing was:

Finding clip, snipping start > deleting everything before

Snipping finish > deleting everything after... Add text to beginning > save as video file... finished

> then open project, dont save any modifications, find project file > open > have full timeline restore and then start again for the next clip...

Which was becoming a bit long, but found the back button i could click a few times and then the timeline would restore rather than re opening the project as new...

However if i could set my in and out points and the program would recognise where i want to crop > then saving that specific clip would save me a lot of time? is this not possible?

Thanks.

Hi

I don’t think your editing approach is the same as we normally do it, and I think that has caused us some confusion.
We would take our 60 minute video and starting on the left remove unwanted frames, cut and delete.
Continue throughout the timeline removing all unwanted frames to the end of the 60 minutes, by now our project would have been cut down to say 45 minutes.

However if the 60 minute video contained separate scenes we would probably cut out the scenes saving them in a new project for individual editing.

-------------------------------
Some options……..
There is an option to save the trimmed clip as a video file.
Cut the main video into pieces, this creates individual clips.

Select one clip and choose File-Save Trimmed Video.
A new video file will be created and saved to the Working Folder, a thumbnail will be placed in the library.
-------------------------------

Project Playback Range
When this is set a Red/Orange bar will be placed at the top of the timelines.
Share Create Video file – Same as first---then choose Options---choose Preview Range
A file will be created in a folder of your choice.
The video file will contain all details shown in the timelines
Please view

for details regarding the blue bar., which indecently appears as grey in X4.

--------------------------------
When we edit the timeline and cut the video file, deleting the clip does not delete the actual file on the hard drive. Editing in Video Studio is non – destructive in that the original files remain intact.
By creating a new video file you are simply creating a copy/section copy of the original.
