book suggestion

Post by David P »

Am looking to buy a book on PSPX3 saw two on amazon that had good reviews
1. Paintshop photo pro for photographers by Ken McMahon
2 Picture Yourself Learning Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 by Diane Koers ( cheaper by about $3)

Would like recommendations (especially from those who have both books)

Thanks in advance

I might be able to help you with one of them, anyway: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 17#p227915

Ignore the references to Corel's website; they were accurate at the time I posted the original message, but they no longer appear to be.

I have both books. The Koers book is written like it was trying to teach you a Microsoft word processing application. The facts are there but little interpretation or suggestions on what works well or poorly.

The McMahon book is well thought out. The basics again are there but so are various techniques with recommendations what tools may work better (or very poorly) for specific cases. The book does have an occasional hiccup regarding a tool presence but does not present any glaring errors. It is definitely written from the photographer viewpoint and offers choices.
