Re: Paint Shop Pro X4 will not launch in windows 8
Just an update guys... dont know if anyone else has reported this, I also could not get PSP X4 to run on Win8 CP, till I installed SP1 for PSP X4... and runs fine now!
Re: Paint Shop Pro X4 will not launch in windows 8
The Developer Preview (i.e. DP) of Windows 8 was released to MSDN subscribers and came before the Consumer Preview (i.e. CP) for general release, but neither version is the actual RTM (i.e. Released to Manufacturing or Gold version) so it is not necessarily a reliable indication of the final released product but is a good indicator of incompatibilities and a chance for developers (like Corel) to adjust their products...

Just thought I'd add in my 2 cents. PSPX4 wouldn't run on initial installation on Win8, even if I tried compatibility mode. Complained about the program not being compatible, or something similar. Saw the post here about installing SP1, tried that and then the program wouldn't even launch at all, no response whatsoever. Then I tried installing SP2, and what do you know, its now working without any issues.
Also, FWIW, I was able to install PSPX2 and get it to run on Win8 the first try.

Thanks for your post! Just installed Pro X4 on a brand new Windows 8 laptop and had exactly the same problem as you described. I used your suggestion to installed SP2 and voila! I have PSPX4 running. Wish Corel support website would have some explanation on the problem! Thanks again... this saved me a lot of aggravation.dwalby2 wrote:Just thought I'd add in my 2 cents.
