Error after updating VS X4 to SP1

Post by Moondance »

Yup.
Tonight is the first night I've used this program and its determined to show me that its really not very good.

Spent several hours making a video only to discover I cannot render it, it keeps stopping (posted in another thread)

And now I tried to restart the program after saving my project, to see if restarting might help it decide to render. No dice there.
But immediately it popped up a window telling me SP1 was available for download and I had to close Corel. So I did. I updated.
Now I receive the following error message:

Error: 38 - Corel VideoStudio files have been damaged or modified. Please reinstall your original source.

Excuse me, but isn't the point of an update to modify the files somehow??

And of course, I put the disk in and click the installer icon and it decides it wants to UNINSTALL it... when all I want to do is repair the now corrupt files courtesy of the update. Grrrrrrrrrr

If you are getting the "Error: 38 - Corel VideoStudio files have been damaged or modified. Please reinstall your original source." this means that the Protexis Licensing V2 (PsiService_2.exe) service is disabled. To fix this, please follow the steps below.

1. Go to Start >> Run;
2. Then type: services.msc
3. Hit the enter key to open Services.msc window.
4. Double click on Protexis Licensing V2 and make sure that it is running.
a. Startup type should be "Automatic"
b. Service status should be Started
5. Click on when done.
6. Launch the program.

The steps is taken from KB 000004559
