VX4 ultimate - installation - language file not found

Post by Ernst »

Good day:
This is my first post, hope to obey the rules
Recently I purchased, got the path to download, and my serial number of VS Pro X4-ultimate.

Before that I had been experiencing with a trial VS Pro X4, and got enthused to upgrade to Ultimate

The download was OK, but during my attempts to install, I got the following message in a pop-up window with the title:

Corel Video Studio Pro X4 Ultimate
------
El sistema no puede hallar el archivo especificado
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\CONFIG~1\Temp\Corel VideoStudio ProX4 Ultimate\14.0.0.001\Lang\Custom\Init.htm
------
Translated: The system cannot find the specified file

After this message I cannot go further
-------------------
NEW: Instead of the error mentioned above, sometimes I receive the following error message: La ruta de archivo de idioma no se pudo encontrar, el programa de instalación no puede continuar
Translattion: The path to the language file cannot be found, installation program cannot continue

Just for testing purposes, I tried to install the program on an older notebook with XP Pro service pack 2, and there No Problem, everything went OK, the program installed.
This was to test, I will only use (and hope to do so) the program on my main PC, and delete it from the notebook.

Additional question: Can it be that my windows XP pro, SP 3 installation is corrupt or partially failing for installing this program?
Regarding this, maybe there is some expertise in this forum, to provide some clues ?
-----------------
I am using Windows XP Pro - with ServicePack 3, Spanish.

I will appreciate any help I can get from forum members to understand what might be happening, or what am I doing wrong, and how to repair this failure.

Thanks in advance
Ernst

Hello Ernst,

The fact that you where able to install VS X4 on your other computer means that the problem is with the other computer. Are both computer are in the same Language (Spanish)? If not can you try changing the language of the main computer to English by following the steps below.

Start > Control Panel > Region and Language Options (globe shaped icon)/ Date, Time,Region and Language Options (globe shaped icon) > then
change both Address bars to English > OK.

Once in English try to install the program again.

Then tell us what happens?

Thanks Abiel Corel NA.

I will talk about the notebook (where I succeeded installing VS X4) and the PC (as my principal computer), where I failed to install the program

1. Notebook and PC have both the same Windows XP pro installation, that is W XP Pro version 2002
2. Notebook has Service Pack 2. PC has Service Pack 3
3. Notebook has Languages: Español (Chile) and in Advanced Options it has Español (España)
4. Notebook (when I look at the Setup files of Corel VS X4) had three setup files: Setup.exe , setup.xml and SetupARP.exe . The PC did not have setup.xml file in the Setup folder.

In some of my trials to install on the PC, I got the error that the setup.xml file was missing and the installation could not continue.
The most common error messages I got while trying to install VX4 on the PC were (Spanish text of error):
--- La ruta de archivo de idioma no se pudo encontrar, el programa de instalación no puede continuar
--- El sistema no puede hallar el archivo especificadoCorel VideoStudio Pro X3\14.0.0.001\LangES\Custom\Init.htm
--- Setup popup window: No se pudo cargar Setup.xml. Esto podria indicar que el archivo esta corrupto.
--- Corel VideoStudio Pro: Error 4: Corel VideoStudio archivos dañados o modificados. Vuelva a instalar la fuente original

According to your suggestions I changed the regional, and language options to English (US) and tried to install. No success

I did a few more exercises. Downloaded again a trial version of VS4, one from Spain Corel site and one from the US Corel site, and tried to install them. Neither the US version nor the Spain version installed. I am not sure if the VX4 version is similar or different on your two stores or it is a universal version, with the language options included, to adapt to different languages of the users.

I think now that probably the windows installation of my PC has some bugs, or corrupted files, and I will locally ask for help of skilled technicians in windows installations. Some time ago I had a problem with the Windows installer. In one moment I remember that the installer gave the message that it could not handle a setup.msi file. I am not proficient enough to understand some of the messages.

So, I give up at this moment on my attempts to install VS 4X pro on my PC. But, I still have video studio x2 pro, which I purchased in April 2009, and that is working fine. Since my first VS 5 in 2003, I have been a happy user of Ulead/Corel video and graphic software. Hope to put VS X4 Pro to work soon.

Anyway I will contiunue my trials to install the program on my PC, once my Win XP installation, including the Windows installer, has been checked, and/or repaired.

Will keep the Forum informed.

Thanks again, sorry for the long explanations. Maybe it may be useful for others.

Regards
Ernst

Well, here I go again

I revised all my system, it is OK. Checked for viruses, spyware and other malware. No signs of infection.

No way to install the VS pro x4. I even downloaded again trials, and from the path that was indicated to me in the purchase confirmation mail, from different stores (English and Spanish speaking languages) and tried to install.
I disabled also virus check and firewall, before downloading again, and before trying to install VS 4

Always the same errors, related to language path not found, that I already have reported extensively about in earlier posts.

Strangely enough, a few days ago I installed the Corel Paint Shop Pro x2, I had purchased many months ago and never had installed before, and the process went all smooth. Installed perfectly the English version on my Spanish windows XP Pro, SP 3.

As I commented before, the VS x4 pro, installed the trial with no problem on a notebook with Windows X Pro, Service Pack 2 , but not on the PC with Service Pack 3

I hope that in the next future I will find a solution, maybe with some help from others or Corel company, that could tell how to install the software, and put it to work.

So it would be nice in the future to buy, install and continue enjoying, their fine products.

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Ernst

Hi

Some things to try............

Can you follow one or both of these instructions to remove X4
000005470 - How to manually remove VideoStudio Pro X4?

000005468-Uninstalling VideoStudio Pro X4

If you are still having problems installing X4

Create a new user account on your pc, then try to install X4 vai that account.
If successful you should be able to delete/remove the new user account.

Thanks, Trevor Andrew, for your assistance

As per you indications, I did all what you suggested.

Step by step.

You said:

First comment:
--- Trevor: 000005470 - How to manually remove VideoStudio Pro X4?
--- Ernst: Since the program never installed, I had not much to do on this step. Nowhere did I find a previous installation of VS X4 neither VS X4 nor VX X4 Ultimate

--- Trevor: 000005468-Uninstalling VideoStudio Pro X4
--- Ernst: I donwloaded the VSX 4 cleaner and applied it. Since I never was able to install the VS X4 program before, it was logical that the first thing that the cleaner told me was that there was no VS x4 found. Nevertheless I ran the cleaner, just in case it would help. I marked all the options.

--- Trevor: If you are still having problems installing X4
Create a new user account on your pc, then try to install X4 vai that account.
--- Ernst: I created a new user on my PC and tried to install X4 via that new account. Did not work. It gave me the same error as before, related to language path not found, error that I already commented about in my earlier posts.

--- Trevor: If successful you should be able to delete/remove the new user account.
--- Ernst: It was not successful, so I did erase the new account anyway.

I think I will stop my trials to install VS X4 now.

I appreciate your help and that of Abiel Corel

Ernst
