Free composition/movie for C3DPS - Fanfare

Post by klowther »

This movie was inspired by a project that I saw that was done in blender. It is my attempt at reproducing the old 20th Century Fox fanfare intro using C3DPS. I created it completely from scratch, so there are no worries about copyright infringment, etc. I'm making it available to anyone that wants it for whatever use they desire.

You can get it from my freespaces site at:
http://klowther.freespaces.com/index.html

There are 2 links on this page concerning Fanfare. The first link is to a .wmv file that was created using the Cool3D project from the .zip file. It has an audio track and fades to black at the end. You can download that to see if you are interested in obtaining the .zip file. The second link is a .zip file containing the Cool3D project and a readme file. No audio, sorry you'll have to come up with that yourself. Right click on the link and select 'Save Target As' to download the file.

I have also uploaded these files to my Yahoo briefcase, however, access to them is very unpredictable. You may get a lot of 'page not found' errors (I don't know why). You can access them here:

http://briefcase.yahoo.com/lowtherken

Once there, click on the Cool3D folder. There should be 2 files named Fanfare.wmv and Fanfare.zip. Just right click on either file and select 'Save Target As' to download it.

Note: this project only works properly with Cool3D production studio. It will load in Cool3D 3.5 but will yield incorrect results.

Enjoy.

Hmmm, I was wondering why you would create one from scratch considering Ulead provides a 20th century fox clone file in the main program. However, after seeing yours, I have to say great job! Very nice.

WOW!!!

That was a helluva project, Ken. I'm not going to even ask how long it took to make. G~R~E~A~T JOB! <applause>

I'm not sure what Pauley is referring to with a "clone file" already made - I didn't find anything like that in the samples folder other than an avi file. Oh, well . . .

Thanks for doing this and sharing with us, Ken!

Well, I've downloaded the fanfare.zip twice now and each time I try to extract the files I get a "The archive is corrupt" error message. :x

Is there anyway you could upload it again, Ken?

Ignore my previous request . . . I downloaded the chesssetmovie.zip to see if I had problems with that, and I did. I extracted the chesssetmove (note; there was no extension on the file nor a readme.txt in the zip) and tried to load it. Got some type of error message again.

So, I tried downloading it (chesssetmove.zip) from your Yahoo! Briefcase and it worked like a champ! Both the uez and the readme file came out perfect.

However, I'm using 3D Studio 1.01 and the uez file wouldn't load. Guess your uez files won't work with 3D 3.5 nor 3D Studio 1.01

Sure would like to be able to use these uez files, but thanks, anyway, for sharing.

LGO,

The uez files were created with 3D Studio 1.0.1 You should be able to import them. What kind of error are you seeing?

Maybe a litte more info about the makeup of your system would help. If nothing else, I could zip up the .c3d project files and send them to you.

Ken,

Thanks for replying! I finally got the fanfare.uez to load and saved it as a C3D file and then rendered it. It worked fine! I guess I just wasn't giving the uez file enough time to load into the project window.

I dunno, I have a P4 2.8 with 1 gig of ram, but it still took a while to load. It also took over 90 minutes to render, but considering the complexity of the project that doesn't come as a shock.

I'm still awed that you created this whole thing - GREAT JOB, and thanks again! :D

The zip file from http://klowther.freespaces.com/index.html still is corrupted, but the one from your Yahoo briefcase is fine.

Compositions - question in general

Post by rss245D »

Maybe someone can tell me how you substitute the word, COOL in the compositions. The documentation does not explain that one or at least I could not find any reference to that fact.

I tried replacing text frame by frame in 3D Ver 3.0 and found out that
the last frame still had COOL in it but no way to remove it which seemed buggy to me. Does any recall any short cut to replacing the word COOL in a given composition??

Instead of substituting, why don't you just edit the "COOL" object (in the first and last frame) and type in the word(s) that you want? You'll probably have to play with it to adjust the font size, but that's just a bit of trial and error.

Good luck,

Very impresive!
Since obviously you are a master in this you or some one here may be able to help me; I do small compositions for use on movies and I would like to have more 3D objects to choose from. Any ideas as a where can I get them either for free or purchased?

Check out http://www.3dlinks.com

There are a number of links there that feature sites that have both free and commercial objects. You probably won't find many specifically for Cool 3D Production Studio (.c3d) but, C3DPS can import many 3D Studio models (.3ds)

Hope that helps.

I just want to update everyone on the availability of the compositions that I've offered here in the past. I have created a website dedicated to sharing works such as these. All the content that I've offered previously is there as well as some new stuff.

You can find it a http://www.videographics.info

Please stop by and give it a look when you get a chance. The files on my freespaces site will continue to be available for the time being, but will eventually disappear.

Thanks.
