PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
On the Manage page. Either in Thumbnail mode or Preview Mode I get no images.
In Organiser at the bottom all I get is a row of light grey boxes with a X in it and the filename beneath but no picture.
I have associated all file types with PSP although that should not be necessary to get a thumbnail image as I tried the trial version before buying version X4 and it worked as expected.
I have had no response from Corel Support yet has anyone any solution.

While on the MaNAGE tab, check on the Navigation section on the left and and select a folder or collection. That should populate your organizer below.

Hi
I am using the trial version, I see a light grey box just for a split second till the thumbnail displays the image.
Do you see the correct thumbnails when in Edit
Not sure if these will help but………….
1 / Right click an image (grey thumbnail) and select refresh.
2 / You can “restore database” by clicking on Start > all programs > Paintshop pro x4 > Restore Database.
Mind you if you have re-installed the program then I guess the data base will be as default?
3 / are you logged onto the pc using full admin rights.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
Thanks.
Yes logged in as Admin.
The refresh doesnt make any difference nor restore database.
If I try to click on a grey box without an image just the filename and move to Edit I get an error message
"An error has occurred while trying to read from the file".
I do still have PaintShopPro Version X still installed but got no message to uninstall that before loading X4.
I will try removing that I think then doing another install from the disk.

Hi
I’m not sure what to think…………
File associations………
In the past have you set the Auto Run to one of your editing programs, I have it set to an image viewer.
If you open Windows Explorer and double click a jpeg file what program opens.?
I am running the trial version , but on a Vista laptop, when I can I will try this? However XP and Vista may be different.
Still thinking…..

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
If I click on jpg files or any graphic files in Explorer they open under IrfanView Version 4.25.
This opens instantly in Windows 7.
If I associate jpg, bmp with PaintShopPro it would take ages to load then view.
I did try this but had the same problem.
I have used all versions of PaintShopPro since version 7 up to X3 with the same settings and had no problems opening images or dragging them to the PSP icon to edit them.
I just tried to reload the trial version which did work and I had only used for about 7 days and it reports as trial expired.
Corel Support have not responded. So far it has been a waste of money and after all the problems I encountered with Version X3 (now removed) I am regretting buying it.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
I have just realised that images with extension .png .bmp .avi .wmv are showing correctly in the Organiser and can be opened and edited.
It is just .jpg that have the problem of not showing.
I removed Paint Shop Pro V X and CorelCAD but no different.
Jpg's represent about 99% of my image libraries.

Hi
Interesting, at least you know the programs working??
Jpeg file associations, are you able to remove the file associations with InfraView
Then try, ??????
Clutching at straws im afraid, I will run a few tests on the vista laptop.
Just got to get the wife’s permission…..
--------------------------------
I know that Video Studio had problems using JPEG saved as Progressive.
At least for some users.
Generally they are Baseline unless they have been re-saved as Progressive.
Do you know if they are Baseline or Progressive.
By the way your profile shows you using XP, is this correct?

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
Tried associating with PSP no different.
Not sure about Baseline JPG's but they always showed up in every version of Paint Shop Pro from v7 to v X3 otherwise I couldnt have edited them.
Just uninstalled yet again and reinstalled but now running out of patience.
Why did the Trial Version run OK on all the settings I still have ?
Very disappointed with the non existent Corel Support who have all the detail plus screenshots. No response.

Solved the PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
Finally managed it without any assistance from Corel Support who still did not respond.
All images were visible and editable in the trial edition but not the boxed product purchased later.
The box I bought was PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate edition with 2 disks.
When I installed the second disk it hung for about 10 minutes saying "Please wait". As it was clearly not going to install I ejected the disk.
Last night I remembered this incident and inserted the disk again and the Add On's were installed in a few minutes.
Back came all the jpg images in organiser and although I could now open them as soon as I clicked on Edit I still got "An Error has occurred while trying to read from the file"
The final solution was to close the program and open it again.
Go to File-Preferences-Reset Preferences. Solved !
(Note:- It doesnt matter whether the images are associated or not associated with PSP it still functions OK)

Hi
Brilliant news.
Strange that the trial works ok without any further installs.
Also odd that others haven’t mentioned this as I would think most would install the first disc and give the program a run before installing the second disc.
Not to worry, very glad you got it working

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
I now do have a response from Corel Support as follows:-
Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support.
Try to reset the program to its factory setting just press on Shift plus F8 key then launch the program, a message will prompt you if you want to restore the program to factory default just choose the OK button.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 no images at all in Organiser
I would be interested to know what Shift +F8 does for other users.
All it seems to do for me is remove and then replace the Navigation Pane on the left of the screen in the Manage Tab.
It doesnt seem to reset anything ?
File-Preferences_reset preferences at least brings up the dialogue box.
For the record I now have the jpg images showing but when I EDIT or ADJUST for 50% of the time I am getting the message
"An error has occurred while trying to read the file"
50% of the time it works correctly so there has to be something wrong.
