Quick Time - necessary evil?

Post by flagpole »

so i've installed MotionStudio demo (or Motion Studio as i seems to be called here.) and am somewhat angered to find i now have quick time installed on my computer.

I have successfully avoided the insidious little ##### thus far and i'm more than a bit annoyed about it being installed without my asking. i'm going to be removing it, i just need to know if i'm going to have to remove ms3d too.

what's it used for? does it provide the AVC library? can i provide another encoder like x264?

During the install routine you're presented with the option to install QuickTime and Flash Player. Since it is provided as an option, the program should be fine without it. If you install it and find that some of the program's functions are not behaving correctly, like the examples animating in the Easy Palette, you can always re-install Quicktime.

When you select the Region/Country, there is another tab at the top called Options. Click on it to get those options.

You can uninstall Quicktime without affecting the trial of MotionStudio 3D, but you will no longer import QT files, and your media player may have issues when playing QT files.
