No audio for any video playing....

Post by omkarkelkar »

Hi All,
Im using Corel VideoStudio X4.
Im facing problem that there is no any audio for any type of video playing.
AVI, MP4.. any type of file I play, no audio plays..
All files are checked & plays correctly in any video player, GOM, VLC player etc...
No problem with video files. there is no audio for sample files provided by corel itself.
When I play mp3 like audio files, sound plays perfectly.
But some problem with video files only...
I edited one file but no audio for that file also when I play edited clip in video player like VLC.
What can be problem?

PC Configuration:
Windows 7 Ultimate.
HP DV6 laptop. 1GB graphic card, i5 2nd Gen.

One problem is that mp4 video can use different audio codecs, and we have no idea what your mp4 uses. So please right click on one of those files in the VS timeline and copy ALL its properties here please.

In addition, .avi is merely a wrapper extension. Over 800 different video codecs use the extension, and you can understand therefore that the variety of audio codecs used would also vary widely. I suspect that your avi's are in fact probably DivX or XVids, which are really mpeg-4 video using the avi extension. But again, even these can use different audio formats. So please do the same with the files you are using and copy their properties here too.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for quick reply.
First I thought Im having problem with all videos.
But im not having problem with all files.

Frame rate: 23.876 frames/sec
Duration: 1830.556 seconds
Data rate: 368.51 kbps
Video
Compression: M peg4s Decoder DM01

Total Frames: 46,287 Frame(s)
Audio
Compression: Unknown ACM Format
Attributes: 48.000 kHz, O bits, 6 Channels

Hi

Very strange properties. Certainly non-standard
Where did you get this video file from, has it been converted in some way?

I am not sure what is going on, really... The VLC properties for the audio indicate it is Dolby AC-3 (since a52 is equivalent to that). But VS has that codec in it. Moreover, the video codec is DivX which again VS can handle. Some users do have difficulty with DivX and have to use an earlier version, though I currently have the latest version and have no difficulty with it and X4. But first off you will need to check that you have DivX (or XVid) installed on your computer for that class of videos.

One thing that intrigues me about the VS audio properties you post, though, is that it is shown as being 0 bits. Normally I would have thought it would be either 16 or 32 bit, with 8 bit also being a possibility I suppose...

Hi Ken,
Im able to hear audio in VLC & GOM player so i think codec is installed on my pc.
Codec: a52 is like Ac-3, but not exactly, as i read on net.
I think there are no codec in X4 for this special type of video... ?
is there any way to install needed codec separately for X4?

Hi

There was a recent audio issue posted by Ilene
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43424

The video properties were shall we say were “non standard”, video studio would not fully recognise the file and would not play the audio.
The solution was to render the video using compliant settings.

Now your frame size is strange to say the least and re-coding may be your answer.
The frame rate of 23.876 is ?????
Ken has already mentioned the 0Bits in the audio stream?

I do not think you are missing any codecs on your pc.

Are you able to make a small sample available?

I am having the same problem, where NONE of my videos will play audio through Corel VS X4.
When I play the same videos elsewhere, they play perfectly fine, but simply will not play sound in Corel VS.

Mine range in type from .mpg to .avi to .3gp
All play just fine on the computers other software (and yes I do have codecs installed).

Hi Moondance

I would assume you have the correct codec’s installed as part of the normal installation of your programs.
We would not recommend installing codec packs, these seem to cause more problems than they fix?
So have you installed any codec packs?

There are many different types of video file Avi is just a container.
So can you right click the clip and select properties, what are they.?

There are sample music files within the library, do these play as ok?

Yes -- I now see that the A-52 codec is a sourceforge freeware version of the Dolby AC-3 codec. But I would have thought that if you have the Dolby codec already (and you do with X4), it would play the audio in your clip. But if not, have you downloaded the specific A-52 codec from http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net ?

Hi omkarkelkar

Uploading clips, do you mean the attachment option at the bottom of the post.
This is used to attach images, usually a screen shot of your video files properties.
You cannot upload video samples to this forum.

Some options :-

1 / If you have a small sample below 20 Mb you may be able to e-mail.
(View my Quick Guide for my e-mail address)

2 / Windows Live Essentials has a sharing folder called SkyDrive, this is free upload limit is 100Mb.
You share the folder by e-mailing a link.

3 / You sendit.com a software package allows you to share files, not free.

Your Video File

I still believe the problem is associated with the files non-standard properties and not a codec issue.
Try using Super to convert to a more suitable video format.

Hi All Experts...
I didn't got time for last couple of months.
But today finally I managed to cut little clip with some other software (not with X4) to attach here as sample.
All experts, please take a look at it & give me some solution to edit this video in X4..

Trevor,
I agree with your opinion about file properties.
But I'm trying to find way to edit my video with Corel.
This problem might not be because of Codec, but because of properties, but I need to edit with Corel..
Please try to look into sample video & let me know if there is any way to edit it with Corel Video Studio X4.

Here is link to get sample video file:
SkyDrive Link (omkar_kelkar4u@hotmail.com) : https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=CB3B3659 ... B464B0!136

i uploaded it on Flickr also, but I dont know how to share link.

Thanks very much for replies & help.
