working with instant project templates

Post by Ilene »

Is there anyway to insert these projects to the timeline at any random spot, versue the defaults to place at the beginning or end?? Seems so limited that you only have those options.
If you edit forward and only add material to the timeline as you need it, then it is no big deal to insert to the end... but if you add all your material to the timeline at once and then decide "oh, lets use an instant project here" then it is difficult to place in the middle.

I've copied some of the images in the templates to my library so that I could mimic those effects ( copy same attibutes to a clip) at anytime I want... just seems like there must be an easier way.

Hi IIene

I don’t think there is any option to insert the “instant project” mid-way as it were.

You could use it in a new project, replace the “placeholders”
Render to a video file
Then add the video file to your project.

Replacing the Images/Placeholders.
Insert your images to the library.
Drag an image from the library over the place holder, do not drop……
Press the CTRL on keyboard, image will magically fit………
Drop the image.

yes, I thought of that too.... but if you wanted to adjust the timing of any of the clips or transitions it becomes a little more difficult to time to the audio....
Seems like "insert to timeline" would be such a useful option... not sure why they always make simple things so clumsy to work with in this program.

Hi Ilene

May be there is a way to insert the Instant Project to the middle.

In simple terms just drag and drop

This is what I did.
1 / Placed a colour clip in the timeline , just as a marker
2 / Instant Project, chose to “Add at the End”---clips inserted to timeline.
3 / Chose "Fit Project In timeline window” the clips are still selected identified by a yellow border.
4 / Drag clips down timeline to front of red marker
5 / Remove red marker
