codecs Videiostudio X3-4
I have a original MP4 AVC file. When i cut this clip and want to output to a format whithout loosing quality there is a problem. I cannot select a avc codec nor x264. I have downloaded these codecs and installed them but they don't show up in Videostudio 3. How can i choose them?
In Videostudio 4 i can choose "the same as first videoclip". The videooutput then looks fine but as always there is no sound in V4 never, which original format i load and whicever output i make there is no sound in the output file, there is also no sound when playing in Videostudio itself? This is not always so: when i load a file from my videocamera a DV file this has sound when playing..

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
With the video clip in the timeline or library, right-click on it select properties and post them so we can see what the audio codec is. It seems that VS X4 may not be able to use MPEG audio layer 2.

Audio type is "none" according to Videostudio X4. According to Media info the first audio stream is; 160 kbps 48 khz 2 channels AAC (LC) and the second audiostream is 192 kbps 48.0 khz 2 channels AC-3.

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
Can you confirm whether the audio plays in Video Studio before you try to output it to a new format? And can you also tell us what you are intending to use this video for: a DVD or something else? Also, we need to know if it is standard definition or high definition mpeg-4 that you are using.

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
No, the sound of the videoclip is not playing in Videostudio before the output is made. The video is for playing on my Mediaplayer without commercials, but the mediaplayer does not support MP4, it is High Defenition, so i would like High defenition Output. Also xvid or divx is good but if possibe not convert the video, but the problem in VS4 is the sound..

Hi
Can you tell us where the video files came from
---------------------------------
Also you have two playback options:-
Project Playback and Clip Playback, are you saying that you don’t hear any sound in either mode
----------------------------------
If you right click a clip and select properties a window opens.
Using your keyboard Alt+ PrtSc will copy the details to the clipboard.
Paste this into an Image Editor and save as Jpeg.
Attach the Image to the forum using the attachment tab at the bottom of this forum.
---------------------------------
Finally what are you trying to create
a DVD or a Video for the internet.
If a DVD are you intending to make a Bluray HD disc, or a normal DVD.

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
Yes thats what i am saying. No audio in clip and project mode. Also not when played from the library. When i right click the file VS says no audio none....
Where the video comes from? I don't know why that is important but it comes from the internet. I just think that VS4 is not recognising the audio. VS3 is though but then i don't have the right codecs to share the video without quality loss. I have tried several output formats with VS3 but most are choppy video althogh i have chosen the same format, resolution etc, also frame based..
What can i do with the problem no sound in VS4, how can i use or import the right codec in VS4 to play the video sound.
I have tried to extract the audio from the video and then load them into VS4. THen shared the video as the same *** original but also no sound because i believe when you multi edit the video the sound track is not edited?

VS3 is also not recognising the audio hat was a mistake. The codec is known but not to VS though. How can i make the codec known by VS?

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
I have tried to convert the mp4 file and output to mp4 and audio to mp3 with freemake videoconvertor. Then merging them together the video and audio mp3 to a new videofile. Output is playing well with mediaplayer and VS4 shows with the file properties that the audio is MPEG layer 3 but he doesn't play the sound!

Hi surfer
Can you provide the full properties of the video file.
Right click the video in the timeline and select properties,
A window will pop up.
Using your keyboard press Alt+PrtSc (Print Screen)
This will copy the window as an image to your clipboard
Paste this into an Image Editor and save as a Jpeg.
Use the attachments option at the bottom of a post to attach the image.

No audio in project mode but good audio audio in cip mode. I have updated codecs and tried changing project properties to original clip settings.
What gives?

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
Hi
Thanks for the video properties information, do you think these will be the same as Surfers video properties.
I don’t use Xvid so a little difficult to replicate the file.
The Video Frame size seems a non standard (for VS that is), I think it may be that causing the problems.
If you render/convert the video to another format is this successful.
Try using VS Xvid option choosing the nearest settings. Share Create Video File-Custom –Avi--Options—Xvid Mpeg4 Codec
What are you intending to make
a DVD, if so what type, or a video for the internet.
Then we can recommend suitable conversion settings.

Re: multi-trim with audio
I am sorry for the confusion. Indeed i posted this problem with audio before but this thread had another quistion: is it possible to multi-trim a video with external audio? The answer is no.
I began the post with the audio problem because it would be a lot nicer to solve that problem. Every time it is coming back, no audio in timeline projectmode but good in clip mode and no audio in output file.
The properties for the videofile:
format: Microsoft avi
size: 1.094.4590 KB
framespeed: 29.970 frames/sec
duration: 6655.556 seconds
speed: 153.06
compression: ffdshow Video Decoder
24 bits, 720x404
frames: 199.467
audio:
Compression: MPEG-layer 3
128 kBit/s, 44.100 Hz, stereo
samples: 293.439.743

Hi Surfer
Your video frame size is not a standard frame size, (720x404) I think it is this that is causing the problems.
However the audio is MP3 and may also cause some issues.
Try using a video converter to recode the video.
If you do not have access to a converter try using Super
http://www.erightsoft.biz/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe
If you are intending to create a DVD then you should convert to Mpeg2.
The sample videos TV standard is NTSC using 29.970 fps
The video is 6655seconds (approx 1hr50 min, quite long) so a bit rate of 4000 ish should be used,
This will produce a file under 4.3 Gb and fit to disc assuming you are not using a Duel Layer disc.
These are appropriate settings for standard Mpeg2
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 4000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
A few more questions
1 / Where do you live, that is do you use Pal or Ntsc
2 / are you intending to create/burn a DVD
3 / If yes what type, Standard Definition or HD
4 / What size disc are you using, Single Layer or Dual Layer, Bluray?
5 / The sample video is using a non – standard frame size, does it view as 4:3 or 16:9

Re: codecs Videiostudio X3-4
I am using PAL but the video is NTSC because of the framerate 29.97.
I have tried converting but converting is not that easy without quality los. I have used Virtualdub and then tried direct streamcopy, also full processing mode for the video.
I will try to convert to divx/xvid but most of the time the video becomes a little choppy. This is, i believe, due to the field order upper or lower field. I will try it however.
