VOB Files in VS8

Post by drtherc »

Hi guys,
Maybe this has been answered before:
My Sony DVD camcorder records .VOB files. I want to make DVDs of these using VS8, but it won't read the files. Any suggestions how I can get them in a format I can use, or how to make a DVD from these files?

What I'm finding is that if I copy the DVD to another DVD, the DVD player, 4 different ones, won't read it, so I need to recompile or something.

You can rename your VOB files into mpg. Not sure if VS8 can edit mpg because I don't use it. MSP 7, which I use, can.

Tried that in VS8

But it still won't read them...I'm looking at TMPGEnc as a workaround, but if there's a better way....

Thanks, though...

Take the finalised disc out of the cam and put it in the DVD tray in your computer. Open VS8 and click on the edit tab (there many variations to this procedure). Place the mouse cursor to the right of the preview screen in the grey area and right click. It will give an option to import DVD files etc. Select it and a dialogue box will open. Navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVDdisc in the tray and click on that. Wait until VS8 finds it and click ok. Another dialogue box will open and will load thumbnails of the all the MPEGS on the disc. Select what you want and import.
