MOTION STUDIO WISHLIST FOR NEXT VERSION

Post by Ken Berry »

Every so often we have contact with a Corel employee or software engineer regarding new versions. Although this is a new product -- or at least one which is years overdue -- it is always handy if we can point them to a thread such as this.

Please keep any suggestions sensible.

In addition, this is not a place to complain about what YOU may consider to be bugs or faults. Those items should be placed in a new thread or tagged onto an existing one dealing with that same issue.

Include a one-line title summarizing the suggestion. We will then have an idea of what each post is about. This would avoid having to read all the thread before determining if a new post is required or not as the topic may already have been covered by someone else. It will also be easier for the Corel developers quickly see each suggestion in the thread and easily find the new added ones.

It will of course be up to Corel to say whether or not any of those are possible.

But I am interested in your comment about a new 'renderer'. The one in MS3D I thought was new and works quite well. It is certainly a zillion times faster than its predecessor in Cool 3D/Production Studio.

Preview controls and viewport window:
The ability to separate and move the preview controls (play, pause, loop) from the viewport window.
The ability to freely move the viewport window around.

1) Improve texturing. MS3D has low resolution texture support. Need high resolution textures. UV mapping so one can wrap model effectively with no stretching. Bump and displacement map support. Example: golf ball model with dimple indentions.

2) Raytracing. The ability to have lighting on model cast shadows. Pegacon's golf ball image.

3) Volumetric lighting- emit light rays to a 3D rendered scene.

4) Fluid simulaton or gravity controls.

5) Import motion tracking data, so one can align models perfectly within video projects. Example: Adding a 3D sign to the side of a moving car video.

6) Terrain builder. Create realistic clouds, oceans, trees, mountains, etc.

7) Import other models like Poser characters with group hierarchy, so one can manipulate and animate parts.

8) 3D painting. Allow one to paint on or sculpt models.

I know I mentioned a lot for the wishlist and many will probably not be considered. Reason being is that these are more than entry level features and Corel wants to keep things simple. Its a shame that none of these were offered in MotionStudio 3D after waiting years for a replacement for Cool 3D Production Studio.

A very down to earth request: MS 3D's interface is annoyingly dark, to the point of causing eye fatigue during prolonged use. I liked C3D PS's interface color a lot better.

Can we have a choice of interface colors, say light, medium and dark?

1. In a complex model.... it is very difficult to select a single model/design. Want to see better control.
2. More freedom to edit a model by inserting extra nodge s.

I would like to be able to duplicate previous/next keys.
Also, choose multiple fx and be able to move the key-points at the same time.
I really like this program, it's an entry into 3D that really works to and can yield excellent results.

Corel MotionStudio 3D [X, Y, Z]
Move -32767 , 0 , +32767
Rotate -32767 , 0 , +32767
Resize 32767 , 1 , 32767

Please can you increase this levels? I need more than 32767 levels (+) and (-).
I mean, except [Add fixed transformation] Function. I mean, I need increase 3D space.

I really like some of the effects that are available, however one that I really like is the ability to use the Explosion effect.
The problem is you can only use it on Text objects. I would like to be able to use it on any 3D object.

Remember the opening trailer for Monday Night Football where the teams helmets collided and then exploded into pieces?
I really needed that ability a couple years ago but could not reproduce it without spending hundreds of dollars for 3D MAx or
similar software.

Please consider this for a near future upgrade and I will definitely purchase MS3D.

PS: I forgot to mention that I'd like to be able to import and use 3D models in other formats also
and then use the effects.

Ray will probably never check back to learn that you can explode objects other than text.

Really? When I have, say a basketball object on the edit screen, there is no explosion affect available?
Please show me how to explode a basketball. I dare ya!

Thanks,
