Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
I have just upgraded from Paint Shop Pro X3 to Paint Shop Pro X4. I was never a very good 'power user' of Paint Shop Pro X3. But I like PSP have been with it since about version 2. However as usual some of the look and feel has changed. No problem I will look for a manual on the Corel Web site, say in PDF download this and learn some of the new nuances of the product. Couldn't find any PDF manuals for Paint Shop Pro X3. Ok I started looking at the on-line tutorials but most of these seem to be for X3 or even X2. Can anyone help an amateur/non-power-user to find some self help to learn how to drive this product. Just point me a some good PDF downloadable manuals or are there some X4 on-line manuals. Maybe I am a bit thick and missed them. Thanks in antcipation.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
If you click on Help > Help topics, it opens a web browser page with Help files. These have, in my experience, always been pretty much what a manual contains anyway, so you will be able to read those many files. That web page also theoretically contains links to Vimeo tutorials and a PDF guide, but as far as I can see so far, the tutorials and the link to the PDF guide do not yet work -- or worse provide help for Corel DRAW!!!
Really, I am amazed... (and don't work for Corel!!) I just got the printed Manual with a boxed copy of X4 so I don't really have to worry -- but again I can only say that the Help files are similar to the Manual.
But so far at least, the Corel Guide provides nothing helpful... That is the little ring of dots with the downward pointing arrow up in the top right of the X4 screen.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
Thanks. I do use Help on most applications. BUT it is often good to have something in print beside you so you can consult that while the application is fully open. I can view the X4 PDF on the screen don't seem to be able to download it very easily. Normally I say SAVE AS (PDF) or RH click on the Button and save as. Neither seems to work?? Also the Tutorials are something to do with Vimeo?? Seems I have to logon? I now have a Corel site logon, a Corel Forum registration and logon. Do I now need another registration and logon with Vimeo whoever they are. I feel Corel are not making this easy. Other software/applications don't make me go through such convaluted hoops. So how can I download the X4 PDF it is there, but I can't do it. But many thanks for your helpfu and prompt reply.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
Hmmm... This morning when I opened Help, the Corel Guide PDF actually opened and is identical to my printed version.
Saving it is easy, though perhaps not too obvious. In the line of icons immediately above the guide, over to the far left there is a printer icon and a little floppy disc icon. The first will print the Guide if you are after a 194 page printed document. The second will save it to your computer. Right clicking the Guide also provides the option to print, though not save, it. Vimeo by the way is another website like YouTube... Just a place to store and show your videos. As far as I am aware, you don't need to have a log-on/account to open the videos.

AFAIK, the PSP X3 PDF Guide is also applicable to the EDIT section of PSP X4, you can find a copy of the PSP X3 Guide at http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... ser-Guides, at this time the guide for PSP X4 is not yet available.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
Abiel, that is not correct. The Guide is available. I downloaded it yesterday. And where do you think that image I posted above comes from? It is the cover of the X4 user guide downloaded in Firefox!at this time the guide for PSP X4 is not yet available.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
As Ken Berry points out, the contents of the on line PSP X4 guide pdf file (which I also have downloaded) are identical to the printed paper pocket user guide that came with my boxed PSP X4 ultimate purchased in the UK.
Whilst that is useful, it is, in my opinion, really complementary to and not a suitable replacement for, the classic local help file on one's PC (*.chm file for Windows).
Many software houses are moving their help onto websites instead of providing one on the hard drive. Whilst I can see the advantages for the company, I think many users (myself included) find it much less convenient. For one thing it assumes that every one is always connected to a fast internet, which is not true. It also takes longer, in my experience for the browser to open and load the page, than for a local help file to open.
The update availble mentioned in
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=43281
and available from http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 2296136690
supposedly provides a local help file. But as for all the others who have posted, it does not install on my version of PSPX4 (14.0.0.332), it says a later version of PSP X4 already exists. Judging from the names of some of the folders in the extracted files, it is set for version 14.0.0.1.
Whilst it is correct that my version of PSPX4 is later than 14.0.0.1, it does not have a local help file.
One can only hope that Corel will indue course correct the update installer.

Re: Manuals for Paint Shop Pro X4
I also get annoyed with the assumption that software companies think that everyone is online.
First I live in the country when at home or use a laptop connected to WiFi when travelling. Neither gives good service.
Second my work computer is NEVER conected to the internet. My files are just to valuable to risk any virus coming down the line.
Corel please just give a sPDF so we can figure out for ourselves what to print or read.
Thanks.

I just click on the Help and when the window opens, you can access the .pdf manual. Save it to file.
