Video Studio 2010...unable to play on dvd player

Post by sukay »

I have been happily using this program for a few weeks and have nice movies and view well on PC. Only problem I find is being able to save a Movie to dvd to play on a dvd player. The only way I can do it is to save the movie as a video file and then burn to disc using Windows DVD Maker. As far as I can see I have tried all options on Video Studio, and have had no success at all. Any ideas or tips please? Thank you......

Welcome to the forums, :)

I'm sorry that you have not been able to do that AND that you purchased the program. The whole Digital Studio suite was a big mistake by Corel.

So how are you viewing them on your PC without creating a video file of some sort? I'm kinda lost on this. You need to at least produce a video file from your project. The project is not a video, it is a glorified text document, containing instructions for the program. You must create a video file at least.

Now since you're wanting to produce a DVD, (by DVD I'm assuming that you mean Standard-Def, not Hi-Def/Blue-Ray, AVCHD, way different), you must use DVD Compliant MPEG-2 video as the format type. With VS X3 you are able to jump into the DVD burning program DVD Factory 2010 using your Project file, *.VSP. If you are using DVD MovieFactory 7SE (I recommend this over DVD Factory 2010), then you must first create a video file (Share>Create Video File>DVD) and then open DVD MovieFactory 7SE, and insert your newly created video File.

Thank you.......I had gathered from searching the forum that Video Studio was a bit of a mistake! However I have been please with the smallish movies I have made, and this suits my needs for the time being.

Im sorry I wasnt clear..........I understand the Project part, and have been creating a MPEG2 file (and yes in standard definition). Then burning the file to dvd for use on Pc's. However family would like to view on their DVD Players and that is where i came unstuck. I felt there should be a way to burn to dvd (for a player) without having to go to Windows Movie Maker. Probably this is one of Corels mistakes on this program? I dont have the Movie Factory or DVD Factory.

Thanks

So you only have Video Studio 2010, and it is not part of the Digital Studio 2010 suite? When you go to File > Share, is there any option there for 'Create Disc'?

I just have Video Studio 2010. re File>Share, no I dont have an option re creating disc. I can create a disc, usable on a dvd player, by burning the movie file to disc using Windows DVD Maker, so think I will just carry on doing that. I really thought that I must be missing something obvious, but maybe not :)

Thank you very much for the help.

If you have a recent version of Nero, that also contains a good DVD creation engine with a good variety of menu templates... And of course there is also Corel's Movie Factory 7 -- though that costs money. Avoid at all costs DVD Factory 2010 as it is part of the same hopeless suite of Digital Studio 2010.

But if Windows DVD Maker suits your needs, then you're getting it at a good price!!
