Disc not empty no disc error

Post by shogunblue24 »

Hi, I'm desparately trying to burn a project, but I'm being prevented by doing so. I'm running VideoStudio11 SE. All I want to do is burn the DVD, but when I press the burn icon I get the same message: The disc is not empty or there is no disc in the device.

The disc is empty, as are the other 50. The disc is in the device. The device is plugged in and is working otherwise normally.

Any help greatly appreciated as it's late nad my family miss me.

Cheers, Andy

Sometimes the installation of othern programmes that burn dvds such as nero can casue problems, as the packet writing software included in these packages can take over the dvd burner, not allowing use by other programmes.
Do you have anything like nero/roxio also installed?
If you save your movie out as dvd folders instead of trying to burn the disc, can you then use nero/roxio to burn these folders to the disc?

Just to expand on Graham's response, it is not the whole Nero or Roxio suites which cause problems. In Nero's case it is a module called InCD which is installed as a separate program which shows up in your Control Panel > Programs and Features list if it is there. Roxio has a similar program, but I cannot recall its name and don't know if it shows separately in Programs and Features. With InCD, you simply uninstall it. It is not needed anyway as both Vista and Win 7 will do the same job. The Roxio program apparently can be disabled internally without removing it completely.
