Editing Hi8 tape !

Post by Vasan »

Hi
I use VS9. My friend gave me a Hi8mm for editing and making DVD. I used my Sony Handycam TRV260 camcorder. When I tried to capture, the tape looked blank. My friend tried in his old camcorder and find there is 1 hr of video. I checked my camcorder with another Hi8mm tape recorded by me and worked well.

Is the reason for my not seeing is because of analog tape eventhough the tape is
Hi8mm ? Am I missing something ?

I'm only using VS8 and capturing Hi-8 analog (Sony TRV 615), but maybe I can help . . .

What capture card are you trying to use to capture the analog video with? What are your capture settings? S-Video? Composite?

Give a few more details and we can offer suggestions.

Good luck,

Hi LGO
Thanks for your reply ! I wrote to Sony and they replied that my Sony TRV260 is not capable to play Hi8 Analog tape.

It's clear to me that the first Hi8 tape mentioned was analog, and the second one mentioned ("another Hi8mm tape recorded by me") was recorded on the TRV260 digital camcorder and was digital.

This model doesn't have the "pass-through" feature.
