PaintShop Pro X4 file format backward compatibility with X3?

I tried save two bitmap layers with some mask in X4 in .pspimage and can not open it in X3... :?

When you Save As, select PSPImage, click Options and make sure it saves as whatever former version you're going to open in later, in your case X3. I still have PSP X and PSP 9, but I haven't used 9 in a long time.

To add on what DF mention, you can actually save a file up to (down to) PSP 5.
