Paintshop Pro X4 resize question

Post by Hooterville »

After I resize an image with Paintshop X4 the image on the work area is so tiny, like 1" X 1"
I'm talking a 2000 X 2000 pixel image.
How do I prevent this?

How do I get the picture to automatically go to 100% or fit to window after a resize on the workspace?
The image on the workspace shrinks to a tiny thumbnail after a resize to 800X600.
In X3 with a resize like this it automatically goes to 100% in the workspace and not a tiny thumbnail.

Anyone know how I can change this?

Hopefully someone will have a solution because this has been a feature of PSP going back all the way to PSP5. It also seems like the bigger the original image is, the smaller it shrinks to on the screen. When I tried a 2000 x 2000 pixel image, it only shrunk to about 50% or about 5x5" on my screen. But, when the image started out at 5000 x 5000 pixels, it shrunk to 17% on the screen or about 1 1/2 inches square.

I don't have this problem as long as I have the following:
File : Preferences : General Program Preferences : View : After Changing Size : (here I have both options checked)

I have those two options checked and always have for all versions of PSP that I've ever used and it still happens. I've tried just about every variation of checking and unchecking those options and nothing made any difference. I've just learned to put up with it.

You could make a script.

Select the Pan or Zoom tool (hand or magnifying glass)
Start recording
Resize
click the approriate view on the toolbar (fit image to window likely)
Save recording, name it
From the Script Toolbar (you may need to activate that from the View menu) Select the script, click Edit Selected Script, click the Resize command, set that to interactive. Save and Close.

Now click View, Customize, Script tab.
Select your script, select an image, bind the two.
You'll see the icon show up in the Bound Scripts section, drag and drop the icon to where ever you want it in the workspace.
Close

It happens all the time for me and I have both options checked as well. To be honest, it doesn't really bother me. I just use the scroll wheel on the mouse to bring it back to a respectable size.

The version I have is 14.0.0.332, is this the latest version?

I've got buttons on my toolbar for all of the various image viewing options so I usually click either Normal Viewing or Fit Image to Screen when that happens.

Your mistake is to check both options. You just have to check the second option and not check the first option. Then the program reacts as you want it.

Thanks for the tip - I've pushed my pixels out wide after I crop or resize :D
