X4 - icons in menus
is there a way to have icons in the menus as with previous versions? the space seems to be there and the icons exist. but the option appears to have gone. it was always in in the customise menu dialogue. but appears to have gone.
i found this really useful because it enabled me to scan the menus quickly.

The checkbook to turn them all on has been removed, yes. Though we do not know why. You can still turn on the icons by selecting each and every menu command, right-clicking and selecting "image & text".

Levi, you are brilliant, I was looking for the reverse, as I had added icons to the toolbar, but didn't want the text.
I reported this as I couldn't find it anywhere.
And there you are, with the solution.
I thank you!

Good grief,
I wondered where all the menu icons had gone, and I guess the suggested would work for a few menu entries, but for every single one nah! that's a no go.
Can we assume, this will be corrected in a new patch?

Re: X4 - icons in menus
Do you honestly believe you can assume anything we consider "obvious" where Corel is concerned? It actually isn't that bad if you just set about doing it. Not ideal obviously but it sounds worse than it actually is. The other option would be to have someone upload a base workplace that has all of the menu icons turned on and go from there.

Re: X4 - icons in menus
i suspect if someone had the specs for the corel file format then they could modify it trivially.
the best people to do this would be corel. possibly with a button in the menu dialogue....
i wonder if removing this was something to do with the black and white buttons.

Re: X4 - icons in menus
It's interesting to hear what features other people find useful that I found somewhat annoying. I turned the menu icons off right off the bat in X2 because I found them too distracting. I've also never printed anything from PSP in all the years I've been using the program. It never occurred to me to print from there. I create my graphics in PSP and then print them in a desktop publishing program. There's more layout control that way.

I'm not able to do this at all. Am I missing something? You can still turn on the icons by selecting each and every menu command, right-clicking and selecting "image & text".

Re: X4 - icons in menus
Thanks Kathy
LindaSue, I've printed from X3 before on my laptop with different printers. I liked that I could have a layout that would print the same across different printers and even manufacturers. I don't own any desktop publishing programs so it was nice to have this option.

Re: X4 - icons in menus
I can understand doing it if you don't have another program for the job. I make greeting cards and calendars and it wouldn't be practical to do the layouts in PSP. I tried once just to see if it could be done and it was way more trouble than it was worth.df wrote:Thanks Kathy

Re: X4 - icons in menus
I played with menu icons and found no simple way to switch all ON. I do it manualy and exported particular Windows registry key that holds value. I hope it works.
My experiences - http://lab.php5.cz/pspX4-all-menu-icons/
Tested & works fine on 3 PC.

Right-click in the workspace>Customize.
Right-click on the icon>select Button Appearance.
Select Text only/Image only/Image + text.
You can't always select 'Image only' as there might not be an icon available.
