Joined the recent webinar on X4 and very impressed with the product. I currently use Photoimpact X3 but looking to change to the new product.
How do I import photos of all different sizes and output to a 800 x 600 photo suitable for import to a digital photoframe? In Photoimpact, I set up a new image that is 800 x 600, make changes to the photo (crop, hue, etc), resize so that the minimum ht or wdth is 600 or 800, right click, copy, move to new image, paste, then move the image about until I am happy with the finished photo and save to a file that will subsequently be copied to a USB pen drive.
How to produce a 800 x 600 pixel photo?

Hi wellsie
I'm not sure how PhotoImpact worked in this way, but I just run a test in X4, because this is an interesting option also for me. A script could also work for you. However, I can only see an output to a certain size as possible option.
Use the Edit mode and open an image
Go to File - Script - Start Recording
Go to Image - Resize and choose the size of your choice.
Go to File - Script - Stop Recording and save the script, in my case I took "resize450x338px"
Go to File - Batch Process
- Browse for the folders and images. I would suggest you test it before you use the original images. I mixed 3 folders with different images sizes.
- Then, I choosed "use Script" and took my new script, and a target folder.
It worked fine for me.
Before I forget it. I think it's important to change the Options for the JPG saving. The default setting is a compression of 20%. Before you run a script, change the compression to "no compression". Or go to File - Export - JPG optimzer and click on O

Re: How to produce a 800 x 600 pixel photo?
Let me give you the PSP X4 equivalent of the work flow that you are following on PhotoImpact.
"I set up a new image that is 800 x 600"
Click on the EDIT tab, then click on FILE > NEW, from there you can setup the Image Dimension and resolution of your new image.
"resize (the image) so that the minimum ht or wdth is 600 or 800"
You can do this while the photo is the one on display, then go to EDIT tab then click IMAGE > RESIZE then under the PIXEL DIMENSIONS section you can set the Width and Height to your desired setting. You can also place a checkmark on the ADVANCED SETTINGS option then remove the check on LOCK ASPECT RATION option in order for you to specify both the Height and Width option under the PIXEL DIMENSION. "right click, copy, move to new image, paste"
You can actually do the same thing on PSP X4, just right click on an image, then select COPY, then go to another image and right click and select PASTE. But you may wanto PASTE the copied image as a new layer. That you should get you started on the things that you want to do. Re: How to produce a 800 x 600 pixel photo?
Thanks to both for your help - I had 'more or less' worked out a solution as the product is very intuitive compared to Photoimpact. The 'look-and-feel' of Pro x4, the colour and the 'Manage' option are very similar to the video editing software that I have. Looks very good!
