X4 Zoom on Cursor
What happened to using the mouse wheel to zoom & unzoom on the cursor? It will zoom and unzoom, but without regard to the cursor location. I want it back?!

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
I know what you're saying. For me X4 appears to not be as responsive to mouse position as it has been in previous versions. It's almost as if the program sees what pixel you're over and zooms in on that, where as before it was more of a position away from the center of the screen, with the more away from center you were the more the view shifted. It's definitely different whatever it is.

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
Does anyone have a work around to make zoom with the mouse wheel work like it did in X3?
This "feature" is keeping me from upgrading.

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
There's not really much of a work-around to force PSP to do something it's not programmed to do. So...no there is no workaround. Either deal with it or drag a zoom area with your left mouse button. Unless they change it in a service pack it's not changing. Though I have to admit, of all of the potential deal-breakers I never imagined this to be one of them.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I've got mine doing what it used to do with X2 and X3 - so I'm totally at a loss to know what you guys have done differently - I can zoom in and out with my mouse wheel and the centre of attention is where my mouse is located

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
LeviFiction it is a deal breaker because I've just scanned over 1000 slides and am starting to scan that many or more old photos. No matter how well I cleaned the slides there are still dust specks all over the pictures. The old photos also are loaded with specks. In X3 I could put the cursor in the upper left area of the photo, turn the mouse wheel and the picture would zoom so that the editing area would show the top and side edge of the photo. This would give me the starting point to go over every inch of the picture and fix the specks.
With X4 the same action zooms to the upper left area, but not to the edges of the picture. I then have to go to the scroll bars and move it the rest of the way. It doesn't help that X4 now has smaller scroll bars than X3. I'd like to upgrade because X4 seems to handle having multiple, large, scans open at one time better than X3.
el48tel, can you zoom in with the mouse wheel and end up at the outer edges (top and side) of the image? Or just close to the top and side?

Try to zoom into the extreme corner of an image.el48tel wrote:Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Once the scroll bars appear, you can't get to the actual corner without moving the image by dragging with the mouse.

Try this to reproduce what I find:el48tel wrote:Tadjio

Terry
1) Open an Image and "Fit to Window" in Tabbed Documents Mode - My example on my widescreen is @ 52% zoom 2) Place the cursor somewhere near the edge and zoom in until the scroll bars appear - My example is @ 100% zoom 3) Continue zooming to the maximum of 5000% without "moving" the image or sliding the scroll bars.
The area between the bottom of the side scroll bar and to the right of the bottom scroll bar is not visible. With X3 you can see the very corner pixel.

Here is the very corner pixel using zoom to 5000% in X3 and no moving the image or scrolling. ... and it's nice to see the coloured, large icons and wide scroll barsTadjio wrote:With X3 you can see the very corner pixel.

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
I get the same effect as Tadjio. I have to use the cursors to see the corner pixel. I have never had to zoom to this extreme for my editing, so it really doesn't create a problem for me.

Re: X4 Zoom on Cursor
I never even realized that PSP would zoom into the corners like that. I might find that useful now that I know about it. I tried it in PSP8 and X2 and the view zooms to whichever corner your cursor is closest to when you roll the mouse wheel.
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16
