Where is the APPLY button?
Hello,
I am using Pro X3 in full editor. When using Presets, if I select a preset such as an arrow from the drop down menu, the drop down menu seems to cover the Apply button. I can place a preset in my image but I cannot find the apply button while working from the Preset sub menu. The object retains the edit frame until I close the image, then I am asked if I want to APPLY before saving.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
What presets? Which tool are you using? Because I can't tell what you're talking about. And there are very few tools that require that you apply a change so you can see how confused I am by your question.
However, if it's asking you to apply the change then you can try changing to a different tool and trying to work from there. It should ask you to finalize the change before it lets you apply an edit using your new tool.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
Levi,
Perhaps I was not clear enough.
I was working on a photo in PaintShop Photo Pro X3, in the Full Editor mode; I wanted to add a little pointer to an object in the photo to draw attention.
From the left tool bar in Full Editor, not the Express Lab, I selected a preset and then went to the top tool bar for presets; from the drop down menu of presets I choose an ‘arrow’. I was able to place the arrow just where I wanted it in my project, I was able to change size, angle, and color; but when I was done adjusting, I could not see an APPLY button for my new preset work of art.
I was able to do more work on the same image, add text, etc., but only when I went to close/save the project or file, did the warning come, “you must apply” and it gave me an option to apply my choice of presets.
I did a search here on PRESET, and someone else had a problem finding the APPLY button when adding text to a project.
I hope I explained my problem better this time.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
I find no such Apply option as well, and probably because it does not exist. Are you using Create as Vector for your arrow? If so it will create a new vector layer for your arrow. If not then it automatically applies it to the selected raster layer. I've never seen the apply button for Preset shapes. Text is another thing, the apply button is located on the left end of the attributes toolbar.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
Thank you Ron,
I think I see where I caused the confusion, I said I selected preset, I should have said Preset Shape Tool(P),the selection just below the Text Tool. It has an icon of a ballon call out.
You must have figured out what I was writing about, because you could not see an APPLY button either when using the Preset Shape Tool. Yet the software asks you to apply before saving a file.
Something you just have to live with I guess.
Thanks, Roger

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
Ron,
Take a look at this Corel help menu topic about using the Preset Shape Tool:
Full Editor workspace
1 On the Tools toolbar, choose the Preset Shape tool .
If you want to place the preset shape on the current vector layer, mark the Create on Vector check box on the Tool Options palette. If no vector layer exists, marking this check box creates one for the preset shape. If this check box is unmarked, the preset shape is placed on a raster layer. Placing a preset shape on a vector layer makes it easier to edit.
2 On the Tool Options palette, choose an option from the Shapes List drop-list.
If you want to filter the options, choose a category from the Category drop-list.
3 Drag to create the shape.
If you want to apply a custom fill, unmark the Retain style check box. On the Materials palette, click the Background and Fill properties box, and choose a fill color. Click the Foreground and Stroke properties box, and choose an outline color. If you do not want the line segments to have a fill, click the Transparent button .
4 Drag to draw the shape.
5 Click the Apply button .
Still looking, Roger ;-}

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
I'm not sure when it changed but at one time there probably was an apply button for preset shapes. You even see it in the documentation for PSP 9. However, in X2, X3, and X4 there is no "Apply" button and the X4 help documentation reflects this fact where as the others seem to have just been copies of previous documentation without being properly updated. This happens a lot actually, the documentation in X3 said that we should still be able to drag the edges of the crop tool to resize it and that hasn't been true for a few versions now.
If it's asking you to apply then it's for some other reason.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
You mentioned you also added Text - I think that's what the "apply" message was referring to.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
Almost Kathy,
The apply button for the Text Tool does not close and save the previous work from the Preset Shape Tool. You have to close the whole file before you see the the warning to hit the apply for your work in Preset ShapeTools.
Hey, I can live with this.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
The preset shape tool also doesn't have to be closed and does not have an apply button. I can place any number of preset shapes withoutit asking me to apply the change when I close the image. What Kathy was suggesting is that you are misinterrpreting the apply message as coming from the preset shape tool when it is in fact coming from the text tool or similar.
Which unless you have found an overly specific bug that effects only your computer, while possible, is far.more likely than the preset shape tool requiring you to "apply" it when it has not had that requirement for a few versions or for anyone else here.
If you can live with it, then fine, but I can't help but feel you are missing something that would prevent you from having to live with it.

Re: Where is the APPLY button?
Levi,
You were right and I was wrong. I opened a photo file, added an arrow from the Preset Shape Tool, and then tried to close the file.
I was only asked if I want to save the changes. It has been a journey, but even old putter people still learn something.
Some of the Corel Help Topics do need editing.
Thanks, Roger
