Re: Swf files for animation
Are you wanting similar cartoonish styles, or similar to what's included with VS? There's tons of sites offering various flash files. Of course what you need is the SWF format. Google search for Free Flash animation files
That revealed over 23 million hits. You just need to start filtering through them. Also if you're serious about using a lot of flash (swf) animations, you might entertain creating your own. There's several flash authoring programs, such as Adobe's Flash (very expensive) SwishMax (what I've used for years now), or many others.

Try searching for Free Animated GIFs. You'll find a lot more of these than free flash files.
Then download a free gif to swf converter tool. There are several out there.

From what I have read here, can I assume that there will be no problem with using flash files with VSX4, I ask , because there has been issues in the past with VS and them

Re: Swf files for animation
Flash as in SWF, no problem. If you're asking about FLV, no that is not a format that can be edited in VS, and rightly so. It is what I consider the far extreme for compression. It is meant for one thing only, and that is distribution, streaming video.Kenneth Veal wrote:From what I have read here, can I assume that there will be no problem with using flash files with VSX4, I ask , because there has been issues in the past with VS and them
The following is not directed at you Ken..
Keep demanding that FLV can be edited in VS, and they will probably try to oblige. However I don't think that you really want that. I think in doing so it would start creating big problems within the program. The program started out with *.avi and *.mpeg being the most common. Things tended to go very smooth. However with each addition of more and more compressed formats being added to those that VS accepts to edit, the program becomes more and more unstable. My personal observation has been that it appears no one really wants to edit their own video. Video they shot, using a real camcorder/video camera. They want to take what someone else has produced, from YouTube or where ever on the internet and edit it. If that's your gig, fine, but why try to blame the program when everything doesn't come out peachy. It's just not as simple as editing a photograph. You're going to loose quality big time, just with one edit, the audio will not stay in sync very well, and if you have any that are of a larger resolution, you better have a powerhouse for a pc.
Sorry for the rant....
