Capture setting & crashing

Post by imac »

Hi,
I'm trying the V9 trial version. I got it to render a project that Studio 9 plus will not render. so, it looked good.

I have the Pinnacle Moviebox USB. I attempted to capture an analogue video from my camcorder. BTW, the moviebox outputs the video in mpeg format.

In VideoStudio I clicked the capture tab. The program detects the moviebox OK. I selected in format MPEG, it wasn't didn't work so I tried DVD.

In Capture options I set it in the first tabto S-video.
Every time I clicked on the Capture tab, that is, not any of the options - the options did not get to be listed. I get the error.. Ulead video has encountered a problem etc.

My question is, I don't know what settings are in that tab, and I can't get the program to capture the video. Is it my end or if I buy the program will it work ok, that is, will the capture options work, & will I be OK to see the options in the tab.

I understand the moviebox may be a problem and that Ulead may not capture from it. It's just knowing the position.

I would be prepared to buy a capture card if I knew it would work, therefore I'll buy the program.

your help will be most gratefully appreciated.

V9 looks very good, much better than that Pinnacle stuff.

Many thanks.

imac,
Can't answer exactly why you can't capture ( may be the trial version ) I to used Studio 9 with the movie box and the main problem I couldn't get by was the out of sync issues with Pinnacle. I have been using V9 for the last 2 months and have made numerous home movie transfers both in analog and digital with menus, chapters, transitions and have not had one problem with V9. I now use a capture card although the movie box will work, I only use it for video transfer ( with macrovision) because the movie box will remove it. Otherwise I go through the capture card. Although you can tell from this forum, there are many people that are having problems ( alot fixed with the help of this forum ) I have not encountered any problem with V9 and would highly recommend it over Pinnacle.

thanks.

I have ordered V9, and a Canopus analogue to DV converter box.

There can't be anything as bad as Pinnacle, can there. I would certainly hope not.

Do you somehow, get the impression I do not like Pinnacle Studio 9.

From what I have read, Pinnacle devices would not work in Ulead products. You just might need to get a different capture device or capture using Pinnacle software and bring in the video into Videostudio for editing and burning.

He did get a non-Pinnacle capture device, a Canopus ADVC. I have the Canopus ADVC-300, and it works great with UVS.

I just upgraded to version 9 through a download from the website. I am having a similar problem with the capture feature. When I select the capture tab and then click capture video, I get an error message saying "The instruction at "0x7c910de3" referenced memory at "Oxfffffff8". The memeory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program." I also get another error at the same time, but for "0x7c918522". Does anyone know why I would be getting these error messages and what I need to do to fix the problem? I am not very familiar with Video Studio, I am just starting to use it, but am frustrated that I just upgraded and am already having problems with the program.
Please let me know if you have any idea why this is happening.

Go to Tools -> Change Capture Plugin and make sure you select a plugin appropriate for your device.

How do I know which plugin is the correct one. It seems that the only one that allows my Plextor video recorder to show up is the Windows Media plugin, but the TV reception is not coming through. Please give me more specific instructions. I tried the other ones, but they didn't seem to be working either.

My Version 8 software has the plugin for my Plextor Video recorder, but when I installed the new version (9), the Plextor plugin does not show up in the capture plugin options list. When I installed version 9, it installed it in a new directory not over the top of version 8. How do I get the plugin for the Plextor device into the version 9 software? How do I find it? If anyone knows what I need to do to get this plugin available for the version 9 software I would appreciate an explanation of how to do it.
Thanks

I have no first-hand experience with that device and don't know how Plextor decided to implement the interface with it. By far the two most common interfaces are DV (Firewire) and DirectShow.

If the Plextor device requires a custom plugin, it may not be possible to use it with UVS without assistance from Plextor's tech support.

The Plextor plugin shows up in VS8 version that I have installed (tools-->change capture plugin). It recognizes it fine, that's why I don't understand why the VS9 version does not have that plugin showing up in the "tools-->change capture plugin" list.
It works fine in VS8. I just don't know why it's not available in VS9 or how to make it available.

Are you saying there is a Plextor-specific plugin listed, i.e. it doesn't use one of the standard plugins (DV, DirectShow, MPEG, MicroMV)?

That is correct. When you told me to select the correct plugin, I went into my VS8 because I knew it was working and I looked in the tools menu to see which plugin it was using, and it was a specific plugin for Plextor (Plextor 402U series capture plugin)
