Re: Best output format?
What's your original format?
What output format do you want/need? Are you going to play the files on your computer, or do you need to make a DVD, Blu-Ray, upload to YouTube, etc.? Do you have any file size requirements?
If you've got HD, MPEG-2 at the same resolution as the original, and a high bitrate should give you the best results.
With standard definition, AVI/DV is usually the best. (There are many AVI formats, DV is the least compressed.)

That might depend on your input format. If you get bad results with high quality output formats, try converting to a better format before editing.and in what format i get clean transisions betwin 2 scenes, becouse iget a "blip" not a smoth transission, tnx

Re: Best output format?
If your HDTV is new, then maybe it is a model which can play AVCHD direct from a USB key drive, as you want. So therefore you simply choose Share > Create Video File > Same As First Clip. Otherwise, you would need either a Blu-Ray player with USB input or some other sort of multimedia player connected to your HDTV which can accept AVCHD, though just about all of them can.
For a standard definition DVD, the video is going to have to be downconverted to DVD-compatible mpeg-2 (Share > Create Video File > DVD). The drop-off in quality will be significant, however.
But if you are talking about an AVCHD hybrid disc burned as a Blu-Ray disc but on a DVD blank disc, then again you simply use the original AVCHD. Note, however, that the highest quality setting for such a disc is a bitrate of 18 Mbps, and at that rate, you will only fit around 20 minutes of video on a single layer DVD. And the discs can only be played on a Blu-Ray player rated to play such discs. Most -- though not all -- can these days.
AS for the transition blip, you are just about the first person I recall reporting this with X4, though at least one other user has a similar problem after inserting a title. My advice is to switch off SmartRender for any rendering of HD video. If you maintain the original quality settings, then a single re-render is unlikely to produce any drop-off in quality which can be detected by the human eye.
