I wouldn't have thought it possible either if it hadn't happened to me. If you're interested, here are a couple of threads from two other PSP forums where my bug was discussed:

Here is the link to my original post about the issue on the PSPUG forum:

Someone at the Paint Shop Pro Newbie 101 Forum posted this same problem the other day but with the Paintbrush:

It's very strange how the bug comes and goes and I noticed in my old thread about it that there was a time when I had the glitch in PSP8 but not in X2 once. Perhaps it's just an intermittent bug that never got fixed and was passed from one version to the next without anyone noticing it because it was so random. Like I said, I went for years without it happening to me but now it happens somewhat often. Maybe it was just a coincidence that it started showing up after I'd installed X2.

Okay, so I uninstalled all Corel products, cleaned the registry and rebooted. I reinstalled X2 (ver 12.50) and I can Auto Preserve again. Corel has not followed up on their initial request that in X4 I uncheck (disable) Auto-Preserve, close the program reopen it and recheck (enable) Auto-Preserve, which did not work.

Corel needs to figure this out or I wont be buying any updates until they do or are willing to offer me a refund if they cannot fix it once I do.

X4 is so much faster for many things, I wish they would contact me back again.

Just purchased PSP X4 and the Auto Preserve is working although the "corel auto preserve" folder is hidden in the root of the folder you are editing from. This works for me as long as the files are copied and stored there when running scripts which they are. Thank you Corel, I think hiding the folder is a mistake, since the files take up space and normal unsavy folks will not know the folder is there, unless they copy it to another location, and they become visible. You should really think on this.
