Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
The text box tool is a feature that I use extensively. It slows my work considerably to create an image with PSP X4, only to have to reopen it with x2 in order to complete my work. Therefore I find that it is much quicker to just use X2 and not waste my time with X4. I would like to see future versions bring back the text box.

Did you know that you can hold Shift when clicking with the Text tool to bring up the Text Entry box? It works with X4!

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
It's really not the same. Or even close to the same. I can get a box to open by hitting the shift key, but I still do not have the ability to work with text that exits with X2 and older versions. I use text a lot, so for me it's a deal breaker.

PSP just uses the fonts that are present in Windows. If you want more fonts, you'll need to install them into your OS.P L Meisel wrote:It's really not the same. Or even close to the same. If you're talking about remembering the last text that you had the last time you used the text tool you'll want to click that jumble of lines just to the right of Create As:

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
I apologize, I do not seem to know the correct terminology to express what I am having an issue with.
With the earlier versions I could open the text box and create my text. I could then manipulate that text by right clicking on a specific word or line and adjust the font size, bolden, or even change fonts for that particular bit of text within the body of text. I would then move that text composition around on my image, or a color or transparent background. I could continue to manipulate the text until I was satisfied with the composition of the project. That is quite useful when creating photo business cards and other products which include text. It is also useful for creating various png files to use in watermarking. With X4 the best I can seem to manage is very basic text on an image. Occasionally I am able to get the work around to actually open a text box that allows me to move the basic text around on that image, but I don't have the ability to work with that text other than move it.
One obstacle for me is MS. I do have some fine motor issues that give me a bit of trouble with working with anything involving the use of my hands. But with X2 and earlier versions that was never a problem for me because the text tools were so easy to work with and it didn't impact my productivity. X4 does not give me that ability, so I still have to use X2 for my text work.
So in a nutshell, what I am trying to say is that on my wishlist for future versions of PSP is a return of the text functions that were included in the earlier versions. It was a wonderful tool that worked very well. Yes, I do understand that for many of you the basic text ability in X4 is good enough. However for my PSP uses it does not get the job done, I still have to use X2 when I work with text. That is why I came to the wishlist section of the forum.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
When working on images for use on a web site/document with a white background I would like to be able to have the same background colour in PSPX4.
I find an image that looks right (contrast/brightness/colour) on a dark background looks pale and pastie when viewed on a white background.
I would therefore like the ability to change the background colour of the work area, just having white, neutral grey and black would suffice but more choices would be better.

I hope the TIFF saving as multipage issue will be fixed in SP3.

Allow thumbnail mode in Manage when it is set to Multi-Monitor.

I would like to have the Organizer work in Edit mode the way it works in Manage mode. In other words, I want to see the whole folder full of images instead of a single row of images that you have to scroll through.claudermilk wrote:Allow thumbnail mode in Manage when it is set to Multi-Monitor.

Ummm... In my X4's Manage mode, I get the same as in Edit mode i.e. the single row. And I can't find any control to adjust that to show a whole folder of thumbnails/images -- either in Manage or anywhere else!

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
In the upper right corner there is a tiny icon, looks like a tic-tac-toe board, very very small. On my screen, it's right under the X that closes the program. That gets you to thumbnail mode on the manage tab.Ken Berry wrote:Ummm... In my X4's Manage mode, I get the same as in Edit mode i.e. the single row. Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
I would like to add something to the wishlist. Proper support for displaying Sony RAW files. They look great in aftershot but in x4 they have a lovely green tint to each one. It would be great to use my plugins on these files but I have to start from a good place not from a nasty green monster.

A Whishlist for Future Versions??
My wish is that Corel would address the glaring problems with this version (X4) fully, before producing any future versions. Two service packs and still so many bugs!

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions
MY wish is that Corel would take a modular approach with the building of future PSP versions. Survey people/ forum sites like these and see what people want to work properly as in a previous version. eg elsewhere some have said they would like the option of a text box as in X2, and while seeing some advantages there I am more than happy with the text application methods in X3 with the separate apply and reset buttons. So why not take the best module and include the selectable option in the preferences section that way people can have either or both choices without having to remember to press a shift key to get the text box as is now the case in X4.
The Tabbed v Windowed was at its best in X2/X3 so why not have that module as the one for all future versions. So take the best from each successful version of the past and evolve the truly ultimate PSP.
