ADonahoo had it right. Every new version of software will repair some old bugs, ignore some old bugs, and introduce some new bugs. Just how it is. Hopefully more get squashed than ignored & added.ADonahoo wrote:It's the nature of Paint Shop Pro.LeviFiction wrote:Never. Re: PaintShop Pro X4
I use ulead iphoto + for last 10 years and i'm very, very satisfied.
Ulead is now Corel and pAINT SHOP IS SIMILAR TO iPHOTO.
I'm interesting to find a cool operable software to be satisfied with
I cant do any smudge (smear)tool on base photo - or I can't find how to do it ( it's bad in any of that cases )
I cant do any clone on base photo - or I can't find how to do it ( it's bad in any of that cases )
Ulead - Iphoto + is 15 years old software ( freeware) an i can do anything i want simple and quick ( i can't in Corel PaintShop Pro X4 ) can You recomend some similar software

Make sure that you have the layer selected that you want to adjust/edit/smudge. Also make sure you don't have another area "Selected" or don't have a selection made, even if you made it on another layer.pevanis wrote:Edit mode smudge don't work on image it only works on upper layer-s where i do some paint or similar, and that's strange.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4
I have been a Paint Shop user since the Jasc days. I have had a constant problem installing all Corel products since Windows 7 64 bit computer. It started when trying to install my Painter program, then vidoe programs and now PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate. I continue to get the error 1402 administrative code. I have searched this forum and the web for answers and no one seems to be able to come up with anything definitive. I have worked with Corel tech support many times and they have not been able to resolve the issues either. I get the same error when trying to uninstall half installed Corel programs. I try to use the customer service form in an attempt to contact customer service and that won't work either. It won't submit my request. I have tried unsuccessfully to do everything requested by Corel techs but nothing has worked. My question- Has anyone been able to resolve the issue with the 1402 error code and if so how. If not I will move on and divorce myself from Corel products forever. This has been one very frustrating problem. The worst part about working with tech support is it takes sometimes weeks to get a response. You can imagine how long it might take to get any type issue resolved. Please help if available. Thanks
Dan

Dan - this is not an uncommon Win7 problem: The answer will likely lie in registry key permissions, per this post:-

Re: PaintShop Pro X4
X4 is getting cheaper now. There is one feature on X3 that could make me buy X4:
Can you drag'n drop set of photos from explorer into hdr-tool so that it loads them ?
if yes, i'll gladly pay for that couple of e's
if not... well not gonna pay for 100 of new bugs and some "cool" tubes

Re: PaintShop Pro X4
Latest updated version of Paintshop Pro X4 will not let me insert text into a picture, photo or a new one I start to work on.
When I click the text tool it insists(regardless of what setting for text(Vector, Floating......)on it being vector text and it sees the photo or whatever as vector as well.
It then greys out the close file selection on the menu.
It also stops me from closing the whole thing down.
When I first installed X4 I did not have the problem.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4
While writing text you are in a "Text Edit" mode where it does treat everything as a vector. Text always starts as a vector, after you hit the Apply button (the checkmark next to the Presets on the Tool options palette) it then performs a final change to match your "Create As" option. This button is only available if you've made edits to the text.
You should be able to just Double Click anywhere on the canvas to apply changes and exit "Text Edit" mode.
So if you have not exited the "Text Edit" mode you won't have access to any of your non-text functions.
If you are already trying this and it's not working, then reset your workspace. When PSP is closed, hold down SHIFT and double click on the icon. It should ask you if you want to reset PSP to factory defaults. You will lose any customization you've made up until now.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 text lockup
I had the same problem musicman had. Over time, my texting application went from fine to struggling to lockup. Yesterday when I selected Text and the program locked-up, I let it set to see what it would do. Twice I ran that experiment, and both times it slowly ate my RAM until it had slightly over 5GB of my 8GB, then it just froze and told me it needed more memory (something like that). I actually feel that 5GB of RAM should be enough to apply text to a 3MB image that has no other alterations pending. Okay, a little bit of sarcasm there. I had gotten so angry over this that I jumped on the suggestion to reset to factory defaults - and that did solve the text problem. However, although I am grateful to be able to add text now, I am totally depressed because it took me about a month to get the customization like I wanted it, and now I'm starting over, with a mind that never remembers how I did something before. Thanks for the help and for letting me get that off my chest.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 Interface Color
While searching for a solution to my problem, I noticed some complaints about not being able to change the interface from Dark Gray. In case that has not been addressed, here is the solution: Open "Customize", select "View", scroll to bottom of "Commands:" list - there you can select Dark Gray (default), Medium Gray, Light Gray, or Blue. I suggest dragging all of them to the menu, then select each one to decide your favorite, then drag the ones you hate back into Customize. I decided I prefer the default.

Why go to all that trouble? The solution is already in the default menus.sclgwhite wrote:While searching for a solution to my problem, I noticed some complaints about not being able to change the interface from Dark Gray. From the Menu bar in the Edit module in both X4 and X5:
View --> Workspace Color --> Select Dark Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray or Blue
You don't have to use Customize to make this change.

I won't. As I said, I have already decided I prefer the default color.
