I am a long time user of Movie Factory.
I convert some edited MPEG2s to ISO, using always the same settings.
I divide my projects, so that my ISO sizes are less than 4 GB in size.
Last week, everything went all right.
After making some changes on some of my edited MPEGS (with VS-ProX4), I tried to burn my projects, again).
They remained the same sizes ( some a few MBs less).
Today, my MF7 stalled each time I tried to burn the ISO, after about 20 minutes of rendering.
I even tried burning a DVD directly (DVD-R 4.7GB) and again, it has freezed, after about 25 minutes of rendering
The whole computer has stalled, each time, and I had to disconnect the power, in order to restart.
In order to review my DVDs, I divided my projects a little bit more (down to about 3.2 GB).
This time, they all came out OK.
Any idea what went wrong, the first times?
If my project size was too big, MF7 would warn me before starting. It is always much below the maximum limit.
I can't divide as much my final projects, since I only want to use 3 DVDs for that 2 hours (135 minutes) video.
Maybe I should reinstall my MF7.
What worries me is the fact that I had similar freezes working wix my VS-ProX4
Note: I rechecked all my settings and ther are identical, in each case.

Re: Freeze on ISO burn with MF7
This may not be a problem with your setting but with the file format that you are working with. Like what the tenured member here are requesting, can you try and post the properties of the video that you are working with DMF 7. Also have you recently updated your Windows OS and your DMF 7?
If you have not updated your DMF 7, you can download all available updates at http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5525182943

Re: Freeze on ISO burn with MF7
Thanks for yours reply.
I am sending you, in attachment, a screen capture of one of my files properties.
In each of my 3 projects, all the files have the same properties. They have all been rendered after editing my original clips in VS ProX4.
My original clips were also with the same properties (MPEG2, upper field, etc) except for the audio which was Dolby stereo.
The settings I used to render these edited files have been chosen aften many tests. These settings are the only ones that give me good results.
I think that problem is in my computer. If I burn less than 40 minutes of videos (about 3GB) MF7, achieves the process and the result is very good.
If I try to go up to more than 4GB, it often stalls before finishing the process.
I'll also try stopping disconnecting my Internet and stopping my antivirus, while MF7 is burning the project.
I don't remember if I updated MF7, but I'll do it. My Windows has already been updated.
Pierre.

Re: Freeze on ISO burn with MF7
If your system specs you listed in your profile are correct, then I would say it wouldn't hurt to increase your RAM to 2GB. On my desktop PC, which runs WinXP, and a slower processor, I have to run 2GB RAM, or I start having problems. Video editing and subsequent DVD production is very demanding of computers. One other thing, on that old desktop, I also have 2 internal HDDs, 200 GB and 250 GB, that are partitioned. I can split the read/write while editing, so there's not such a demand placed on either of them, by requiring one to do all the reading and writing. Now to take that one step further, I also have 2-external USB HDDs. I can really split the load up, and yes I know that things are only as fast as the slowest component. But it does help when the work load can be split up.

Re: Freeze on ISO burn with MF7
I have a 1TB external drive, USB connected, with at least 700GB free in it. Would you recommend using it to save my files during the rendering in MF7 and VSX4?
I will also increase my RAM.
Pierre.

Re: Freeze on ISO burn with MF7
Since you are using a P4 processor, I would still recommend that you create a copy of the files that you are rendering on your hard drive, since the data transfer from the external hard drive to your computer is much slower than the hard drive that is installed on your computer.
