Hello,
Unfortunately, in my project which includes HD files, proxy files are not created automatically after capturing, even the "create proxy files" is checked. So to get the proxy files, I have to select all the clips in the timeline and right click to check "create proxy files". Please let me know what I have to do in order to get automatically the proxy files.
Thanks,
Abraham

Hi Abraham
Proxy files are created automatically when inserting a clip to the timeline provided the clip is larger than that set in Smart Proxy Settings.
As you are using HD then you should have no problems.
Smart Proxy files take a long time to create, view the SmartProxy Queue Manager
Then View the Smart Proxy File Manager the completed files being stored here.

Re: Proxy files in vs pro x4
Thank you Trevor,
As I wrote before I don't get the proxy files automatically, the Smart Proxy Queue Manager is empty!
The file size is set to 720x576 and most of the clips are less than 1 min. Could this be the reason?
Regards,
Abraham

Hi
Right click on of your clips and select properties, what are they.?
The frame size has to be above 720 x 576

Hi,
As HD files the video atributes are: 24 bits,1920x1080, 16:9.
So, this is totally not understandable.
I also noticed that sometimes after exit the project and open it again, the proxy files has been vanished so I had to create them again, this is very frustrate

Re: Proxy files in vs pro x4
You need to drag the clips to the timeline before the proxy files are automatically created.
You will lose a proxy file if you exit out of VideoStudio before the proxy file is completly finished.

Hi Abraham
Smart Proxy Files
Adding a HD clip to the timeline automatically creates a Proxy File, this process can be seen in Smart Proxy Queue Manager, do not close VS whiles there are files being created.
On completion you can view the files via the Smart Proxy Manager.
These files should remain intact when rebooting the program, saved to this folder as *.upx files
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\SmartProxy.
There have been some issues with saving the Smart Proxy files
Do a search of the forum you may find some relevant info.
I found a post relating to files above 1 Gb
Another relating to the type of video using ffdshow video decoder
OK
1 / Did you install Video Studio on the C:/Drive?
2 / Are you logged into your pc as administrator?
3 / From Video Studio Right click a HD video file, select Properties, what is the compression being used.
I assume the files are the originals from camera and have not been re-coded/converted
4 / How large are the file In MB / GB
5 / Have you reallocated another location for the Smart Proxy folder
Try this:-
Video Studio X4 user defined files , for want of a better description can be found here:-
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US
Close Video Studio.
Rename the folder “en-US” to “en-US copy”
Rebooting Video Studio will create a new folder using the default files.
Does that help?

Re: Proxy files in vs pro x4
Thank you Trevor and Kingston,
I have done what you told me to do, dragging the clips from the library to empty timeline and the automatic creation of proxy files worked well.
What I have done before, is capture the clips from the digital media directly to the timeline and library at once. in this process I did't get the automatic creation of the proxy files.
So the solution is to capture the clips only to the library and afterwards to drag them to the empty timeline?
Regards,
Abraham
