Hello,
I just installed PSP X2 Ultimate and after first memory card use, I unchecked Photo Downloader so it won't run when I start the computer. Now when I "manually" move files from my memory card (SD) to my hard drive, I am Not able to delete those file on the memory card. Nor can I simply Move the files to my hard drive.
I had no problems before installing PSP. Now to remove the files I have to reformat the card(s) each time.
Seems like Photo Downloader put some hooks in the OS to operate and didn't remove them when I disabled it.
How can I fix this?
Any and all help is appreciated!!!
Thanks,

Copy and paste the files from your card to your computer. Only after you are certain that the transfer process didn't corrupt any important shots will you then want to format the card in your camera. You'll always want to format in the camera, never the computer or elsewhere. Some people wait until they are ready to shoot to format the card, others like myself format when not under pressure to get a shot off, since there will a chance of formatting a card with important images on them that you shouldn't format.
Formatting the card will erase everything just to be clear. It makes the card usable by your camera. Older cameras had issues with cards formatted by computers as there are more than one filing system that can be enabled with a format. By formatting in camera you ensure that the camera can use it, and a computer will be far more flexible in file formats than a camera will. Also every device you plug the card into will add a tiny amount of code to the registry. Over time the registry can become cluttered. Formatting the card is the only way to clear that out and start over. Again, only format a card you know has no images on it that you need. It will wipe the card completely. Refer to your camera's manual or menus on how to format a card.

Re: Problem after Disabling Photo Downloader
Also, if Corel refuses to disable the downloader you can do it manually.
Start by looking in the Startup folder off the Start button your your PC. If Downloader is there you can simply remove that, restart your computer and see if that re-enables.
If that doesn't work press the Windows key + R, in the run dialog type 'msconfig' without the ' marks and hit enter. Navigate to the Startup tab, find the offending startup item and uncheck it. Click Apply, OK. Then you'll be prompted to restart your computer.
If that doesn't keep it from coming back you can go the cave man route, just rename the offending program file and deal with the error message that will occasionally pop up. Crude, but it works.

Re: Problem after Disabling Photo Downloader
Thanks for the reply and advise. Downloader disabled just fine, but Windows Explorer does not work correctly now when a memory card is inserted into the reader.
I can not do anything with the files on the card except copy them to hard drive. I can not delete them or move them. This is not normal and everything worked fine before Downloader installed.
Once the memory card is removed, everything returns to normal and Explorer works just fine afterwards.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Re: Problem after Disabling Photo Downloader
what happens when you try to delete the files on the card? Are you getting any error message?
If possible can you post a screenshot of the error message.

Re: Problem after Disabling Photo Downloader
how embarrassing
This thread slipped thru the cracks and I do apologize!!
The problem persisted for a few weeks but after installing a bunch of Windows Updates, the problem disappeared on it's own.
I suspect that Windows noticed something was odd and fixed itself.
Again, sorry for the delay in updating this..
