How to access Mercalli plugin in X4 Pro Ultiate

Post by stuart_f »

Hi
I've installed all the software and I can use the Boris FX as i can find it in the effects list and drag it on to a clip. However i Can't see Mercalli in the list or find anyway of accessing it from Video Studio - any pointers welcome please!

NB I've checked the ProDAD folder that installed and it's only 15mb in size and the .corel folder is empty - I'm guessing that this may be an installation problem but again any pointers welcome

Part of the problem is being in a position to answer such questions. This is a user to user web board, not a Corel board as such. There are only one or two people associated with Corel who occasionally visit here. And those of us who are regulars knew nothing about the release of VS X4 Ultimate before it was released. In other words, we know nothing about how Mercalli in particular works. So you yourself are one of the first people who have actually got it who has come here with questions...

So far, there has been only one other user who has asked questions, although someone else has answered it. It is not the same as your question, but all I can do is refer your to it in case it is of any assistance: please see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 24#p227324

How to proceed:

1. Locate the FX.

2. Activate your clip in the timeline by double-clicking it.

3. In FX, click proDAD.

4. Drag the Mercally 2.0 entry to the selected video clip (via drag & drop) in the Corel Video Studio timeline.

5. Now click on the Customize Filter button.

6. The Mercalli 2.0 Settings dialog starts. Here you can define the settings of your choice.

7. Click OK in order to go back to Corel Video Studio.

8. If you want to start Mercalli 2.0 again, activate the clip again (double-click), go to FX / proDAD / Mercalli 2.0 and click the Customize Filter button.

Hope this helps.

Obviously not Corel who have told me to reinstall - I suspect this is going to be a massive waste of time but here I go

The "problem" is that you have an earlier version of VS installed and the plugin gets installed in the earlier version. I had X3 installed and noted that the plugin appeared in there, but not in X4. I uninstalled both versions and re-installed X4 and Mercalli now appears.

Thanks for the advice Geoff.

It looks like the installer has put it in every version of VideoStudio I've got apart from the right one (!)

However, fortunately, it looks like uninstaling of earlier versions is not necessary as copying the file:
proDADMercalli20Corel4.vft from one of the earlier folders:
e.g.:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vft_plug
to the correct folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\vft_plug
seems to work

PHEW!
