Is anyone familiar with these transitions?

Post by phnxrsngbr »

I saw them on YouTube, checked out the site, and downloaded the transitions into VSX4. They're Burger Transitions.

http://www.burgers-transition-site.de/d ... storm.html

When I restarted VS it wouldn't load up. It had an error. So I took all the transitions (the one I particularly wanted was the firestorm transition) out and VS did load up, but added 2 of every transition it previously had showing.

So my questions are, has anyone ever used these transitions before? They're for older versions of VS, but would they be able to be used on newer versions, too? I previously thought they would. And last, my program loaded 2 of each of the transition files it had before. How do I get the extras out of the transition view? There aren't duplicates in the actual vfx folder, just showing in VS.

I've been looking for a transition to use in VS that is exactly like their firestorm transition.

Thanks!

I've used them on older Ulead VS versions. I don't think they will run on the recent VS x2, 3, or X4, and add to that Win7.

The author of the transitions, Stefan Burger, used to be a member of this Board. But I am afraid he has not appeared here for at least the past two or three years... And his website does not appear to have been updated since January 2007 -- though is obviously still running. So someone still paying the bill...

Thanks Ken and Ron!

Too bad, I really liked the firestorm transition. Hopefully someone else will make one for the newer VS

Here's some fire transitions, a little pricey though.

Well, I decided to try and see if Burger's Transitions would work in VS X4 and on Vista....To my surprise they do.

If they work in VS X4 on Win 7 then it means I'm doing something wrong, and will reinstall. I'd rather be doing something wrong, that's fixable, than have them not work at all.

Interesting. I just tried installing the Ulead-compatible .exe pack on my Windows 7 computer, and it said it could not find any compatible Ulead products... I suspect it was looking for a Ulead folder when of course VS these days is under Corel!! I would have thought that would have been the same with Vista, Ron...?

In fact, I went back and read the installation instructions carefully this time... This time I installed the transitions the right way by transferring all the vfx files in the Burger Program File to the VS vfx_plug folder. However, on reopening X4, while it came up with a progress bar indicating something was being added to the program, when I opened transitions, there was still no trace of the Burger one, either under All or under a separate Burger heading which I recall existed in previous versions when I installed Burger.

I also tried on X3 but with identical results.

FURTHER EDIT: I just rebooted the computer, but they are still not there...

FINAL (?) EDIT: Gawd! I must really be getting old. I had been looking for transitions labelled as they are when you install them in the vfx_plug sub-folder viz. burger01, burger02 etc. But it just occurred to me that if people were referring to the firestorm transition, then that is what I should be looking for. And sure enough it was there working just fine!   As are all the others under their given names, as opposed to Burger numerical ones...

So phnxrsngbr -- just make sure you installed them the right way!!!

I installed them to VSX2 and they worked fine, showing up as "Burger" with the correct name, ie, firestorm, in the transition drop down list. I put them in the vfx_plug file in VSX2. Then I reinstalled into VSX4 exactly the same way and it still doesn't show up anywhere, not under firestorm or anything else. Both X2 and X4 are in the x86 program file. I'm using Win 7.

I'm afraid to install again because from the time I got the error message and X4 didn't run at all--to which I immediately took the files out--when it started after the error message it put 3x the transitions in, so I now have 3 "dream", 3 "face" 3 of every transition showing in the transition window and I don't know how to get them out. Very frustrating.

Ok you can try this.
  1. Open the Vfx_plug folder, and delete all the Burger's VFX files.
  2. Now go to C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US and Rename do not delete this yet, the file ULVfx40.dat to ULVfx40.OLDDAT
  3. Restart VS X4. It should replace that *.dat file with the default one.
Once you restarted VS, those thumbnails should be gone. Hopefully... I'm going off memory. I had a problem with New Blue FX trials, and went through a bunch of this. If not and if VS does not want to launch or crashes, just go back and remove the OLD from the file name.

Hi

Just thought I would give it a go.
I have used Burger Transitions in the past with Ulead products, form memory one of them gave problems causing the program to crash, but all others worked just fine. I did notice there were originally 24 but the exe file only produces 20, maybe the other 4 were the troublesome ones?

However I copied the Burger VFX to Video Studio X4
They show in the library as below?
Maybe it’s a Windows Operating System issue I am using XP???

Just to be clear, mine all show under All, but there is no separate 'Burger' folder under Transitions. However, as we know from the past, the number of folders here seems to be limited, and I already filled that quota with Canopus and the four NewBlue Video Essentials and other packages... So I don't think it is an OS question.

Evidently, I haven't filled my quota. There is now a Burger category at the bottom of the transition list.

Thanks everyone for your very helpful replies. As soon as I'm done with this video I'll do what you instructed, Ron, to get rid of the duplicate thumbnails. I'm afraid to do anything to the program right now until I finish the video. I'll also try installing them again.

I downloaded a trial of Cool 3D but it stopped working after 8 hours--said my 30 day trial was over!-- so I never got the chance to try it out. There is still a place to buy it but I probably won't. I have tried a trial of Bluff Titler, though, and thanks very much for that suggestion Ron. It seems to do exactly what I've been trying to do, particularly with Bixangelo, so I'll get both of those to accomplish some of the things that VS won't do.
