importing effects from X2 to X4

Post by phnxrsngbr »

Hi Everyone,

I've discovered I have some video effects, like "Film Express" (which happens to be a NewBlue effect) in VSX2 that I don't have in VSX4. I'd like to use it but don't know how to import it and don't know where to find it, either. Any ideas on how I might move it over?

Thanks!

This is not necessarily guaranteed to work since the activating files were designed to work with X2 and not X4. But you will find the relevant files in C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelVideoStudio12\vft_plug.

You will find a number of files listed along these lines. (I can't gurantee they are the files you are talking about since I own the full versions of NewBlue Video Essentials I - IV, and those filters are included in those packages as well.):

NBCustomUI.dll
NBFilmEffects.chm
NBFilmEffects.dll
NBFilmEffectsLang.xml
NewBlueFilmDamage.vft
NewBlueFilmExpress.vft etc

There are also a number of related .wmv files listed above these e.g. filmexpress.wmv

Copy all these files to the vft-plug sub-folder (with X4 closed). Reopen the program, and they should be found and added to your Filters folder.

There's a few more, basically any file in that folder that has NewBlue or NB as part of the name, and the associated video files for the effect.

Thanks very much to you both, I'll move them and hope that they still work.

Hi. Just got X4 and I did try this with the files from X2 without any success. Does this mean it doesn't work or is there a trick to doing it? Thanks!

I did get the files inserted correctly and the filters to work but there is the NEWBLUE watermark in the lower corner. I clicked "Activate" and a prompt came up saying "this is only able to run in Videostudio 12."

This case is now officially closed. :)
