X4: Define Custom Colours

Post by leszektrojanowski »

I've touched this topic bfiefly before...
I have noticed that I am not able to copy a colour from a palette of colours. (In the Title area)
I click on the desired colour, click Define Custom Colour and then click the Add to Custom Colours feature. It looks like this feature does not hold the colour...
Please see the picture below:

Hope you can help me.

Hi

I think this has been mentioned before………………..

I am using XP and am able to customise the colours, so maybe its an operating system issue.
Sorry I cannot help any more as I don’t use W7, but I am thinking of “program permissions” or “read only”

Don’t know why I am thinking that way, something is ringing bells??

I've just checked with my own set-up whihc uses Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit, and it works fine, whether I choose the Corel Color Picker or the Windows one. My only comments is that when I tried to choose too "pure" a colour (this happened with both red and yellow), I would get a message box saying that a colour filter would be applied to my selected colour. This of course toned back my selected colour and in both cases gave me something I did not want at all. With others, however, it worked fine.

It must have something to do with operating systems. I tried it on Vista, would not stick, on WinXP would stick.

I am wondering about leszek's workflow with this. I see that the little arrow in the top right of his photo above, is right up the top against the white part of the spectrum. I wonder if he dragged that arrow down (or up) to the point on the spectrum he was after so that the colour he sought showed in the 'Color|Solid' box to the bottom left of the spectrum. Then clicked on 'Add to Custom Colors', when it would appear in the otherwise white boxes over to the left of screen.

Hi

Viewing the image I see a light colour in the first custom position, I assume this disappears when the program is re-booted?
I think this may be an issue with all corel products.

Well, when I first used it there were only blank (white) boxes in the custom colour fields. I have no idead how on earth this light colour in the first custom position appeared there... when I re-boot the programme, it stays there. But I cannot keep any other colours. :(
