How to find a high number forum page quickly

Post by Ken Veal »

Is there a way to quickly go to , say a forum page 146 quickly, rather than having to keep jumping up the numbers in increments?

Ummm... If it is for example the VS page, you can hover your mouse over "page 1 of 401" up in the right above the relevant page, and will see that it is a 'jump to page' link... And when you click it, it brings up a box asking for the page you are after. Then you insert that number and click OK... Then you should have that page opened for you.

When I saw the start of your reply, Ken, I thought ooh, this cant be done, or it is very complicated, or there is no answer. But, silly me,you got it all right again, you guessed correctly, I was thinking about the VS forum, and you came up with a clear and succinct answer as per usual.

I didn't probe that mystery! I worked on the supposition that the other Ken was thinking like this Ken... Sometimes when the Search function returns its usual 'too common' or 'not enough' responses, and I think the answer might lie in 2006, then I roughly estimate when that might be and think of a page number. Try that, and if I am wildly out, try another. Then skim down the entries on the pages thereabout.... But this is a last desperate search for me and I do it very rarely...

Unless Ken V is an ultimate Virgo and has noted down somewhere Board pages containing something useful, and now wants to get back to them quickly...?

Well, the answer that was not probed is fairly straight forward-having been been out of touch with the VS forum for a while,
(not by choice but time contraints) and having purchased VS Pro 4, I wanted to get up to date with issues and tutorials etc before I loaded it up.Rightly or wrongly, as a way of learning, I have been going back through relevant posts, because I am used to VS11+ and did not want to explore Pro 4 by jumping in at the deep end. After going back through the pages it seemed to me to be a bit of hassle to return to the page the next day , clicking on the pages to reach the one I wanted, hence the reason for the post.So now you see the nature of the beast, I needed help to get to the forum pages and I have not yet even started to use the software.Page 146, was just plucked out of the air to illustrate an extreme example.

Are you also aware of the drop-down menus located at the bottom-center of the forums? You can limit the displayed posts to 1-day, 7-days, 2-weeks, ect. This helps narrow down the number of pages.
