Transition effects on video overlay tracks?

Transition effects on video overlay tracks?
Hi, i'm new to VideoStudio, and i wanted to try it because of its flexible overlay capabilities.
I have a main video on the background and i want a small overlay video to appear on top of it, but to come in with a transition. I couldn't make the transition to effect only on the overlay video, it effects the whole video (both main and overlays together). Is there a way to make it work only on the overlay video?
Thanks

Re: Transition effects on video overlay tracks?
Welcome to the forums,
This is something that Corel is aware of. If they decided to do anything about is unknown. Some of the transitions will not affect all tracks, just need to try them and see.
If you're just wanting a Fade-in, then click on one of the Graduated bars on the Attribute Panel, beneath the Direction/Style. Bars graduating larger=Fade-In, graduating smaller=Fade-Out. Mousing over most of the icons in VS, will reveal a "tool-tip" telling what it is.

How many transitions do you have available from the library?
What version of Video Studio are you using?
For X4 click the A/B icon select All from the dropdown box, I see 137.

Anyway, i just downloaded the trial version of pinnacle studio 15.. its amazing for overlays, and got some outstanding transition effects, works very smooth either.

Re: Transition effects on video overlay tracks?
Hi
Video Studio X4 should have a Contents Pack which will complete the installation and provide you with many more library contents, as well as Gallery content when creating a disc.
The Content file (VSX4_Content.exe) is provided after purchase, it is not available for the free trial program.
In addition there is a Bonus file which again provides sample clips as well as additional programs (should there be any) (VSX4_Pro_Bonus.exe)

Re: Transition effects on video overlay tracks?
I decided to give P.S. 15 a look. Oh boy, did you do good. It's going to cost you for the plain-jane version $99.00, or the Ultimate version $129. With even the ultimate version you only get 2, count them 2, video tracks. 1-Main, and 1-Overlay, 1-title track, a voice-over and a music track. Don't take this wrong, it probably will work fine for anyone that wants to do simple editing. However if you decide you want to do something a little more complex, I think you're out of luck.woodnote wrote:I got 4X and i have 3 transitions..

If you look at the UI it appears somewhat similar to VS, Avid Studio is a lot like VS. Humm I wonder how that happens. Could be that there is some Avid blood in the Corel stable..

You're right, i noticed that now. I see what you're saying, that's certainly a disadvantage.Ron P. wrote:I decided to give P.S. 15 a look. Oh boy, did you do good. Anyway, i think i'll go for the Pinnacle for the flexible transitions on overlays feature, but i wish it had more video tracks,
